REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES

The Trustees present their annual report and financial statements of the Charity for the year ended 5 April 2025. The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the Charity Commission guidance.

Constitution

The charity was established on 1 December 2015 and registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation on 27 May 2022.

Objects of the Charity

To promote brass band music for the benefit of the public by provision of raising money for and grant funding Towcester Studio Band

Grant-making Policy

Friends of Towcester Studio Band seeks to support the additional needs of Towcester Studio Band through the provision of grants.

Requests for Revenue and Capital grants will be considered and areas of support will include but are not limited to:

Sheet music, Equipment, Instrument purchase/hire, Instrument repair, Uniforms, Professional fees, Training, Bursaries, Building maintenance

Review of Activities and Future Plans

During 2024/25 income from individual donations totalled £4,373 (2023/24 – £4,817). Other donations totalled £600, including a grant of £500 received from Tesco Stronger Starts, specifically to support instruments for the Beginners’ Band, a new initiative launched in September 2024.

Additionally, Gift Aid of £1,140 (2023/24 – 1,084) was recovered.

During 2024/25 total grants paid amounted to £12,199 (2023/24: £6,073).

The Charity congratulates Towcester Studio Band on a successful year, during which the band qualified for the National Brass Band Championships (Section 3) representing the Midlands Region and its promotion to Section 2 from January 2025.

The launch of the Beginners’ Band in September 2024 is the fulfilment of the band’s long held intention to support children in the local community learn to play brass and read music.

Public Benefit

The objects of the Charity are set out above under 'Objects of the Charity. Trustees have considered the guidance contained in the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit when setting its grant making policy.

The Trustees thank the individuals and organisations who have made donations to the Charity during 2024/25.
