Status

Date Palm Foundation became a registered charity (charitable incorporated organisation CIO) on 26[th] May 2022 and is governed by its Memorandum and Articles of Association. Charity number 1199096.

Trustees

The directors of the charitable company (“the charity”) are its trustees for the purposes of the charity law and throughout this report are collectively referred to as the trustees.

The Trustees who served during and after the year were as follows:

The Trustees present their report and the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31[st] March 2024.

Reference and administrative information set out on page 2 forms part of this report. The financial statements comply with current statutory requirements, the memorandum and articles of association and the Statement of Recommended Practice – Accounting and Reporting by Charities.

Structure, Governance and Management

The Trustees

The Board of Trustees, who are Trustees or the purpose of charity law, who served during the year and up to the date of this report are set out on page 2.

The Board of Trustees shall meet as many times as the Board of Trustees decides necessary for the running of the societies business. The Board of Trustees shall elect from amongst themselves a chairperson and who together with any other persons appointed to hold an office of the charity is herein referred to as Officers.

Objectives and activities

Objects of the Charity

The objects of the charity (CIO) are:

(1) To advance the religion of Islam by means of, but not exclusively, the provision of facilities of worship and Islamic education in accordance with the teachings of the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) as interpreted by Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaah School of Thought.

(2) To advance education for the benefit of the general public by means of, but not exclusively, the provision or the assistance in the provision of educational activities and facilities, such as a supplementary school.

(3) To provide or assist in the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such

facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disability, financial hardship or social circumstances with the object of improving their conditions of life.

Review of activities

Religious Services: Our prayer facilities are open to the public for the five daily prayers and Friday prayers. We are also preparing to host the two Eid prayers, aiming to foster a sense of unity and spiritual growth within the community.

Education: We offer after-school Quran and Islamic studies lessons for children aged 4.5 to 18 years. These programs are designed to impart religious knowledge, moral values, and a sense of community belonging to the younger generation.

Future Plans: We are in the planning stages of establishing a nursery for children aged 2.5 to 5 years. This initiative aims to provide early childhood education in a nurturing environment, laying a strong foundation for lifelong learning and development.

The Trustees have complied with their duty under Section 4 of the Charities Act 2006 to have due regards to public benefit guidance published by the Charity Commission.

Responsibilities of the Trustees

Law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires the Trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the charity’s financial activities during the year and of its financial position at the end of the year. In preparing financial statements giving a true and fair view, the Trustees should follow best practice and:

The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy the financial position of the charity and which enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with applicable law, regulations and trust deed. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

This report has been prepared in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice “Accounting and Reporting be Charities” (revised 2005).
