whole.|Para 1.20|**Coming out of the aftermath of Covid**
**and starting a new charity has been no**
**mean feat.**
**Together with starting the charity and its**
**associated legal requirements we were**
**simultaneously thrust into a world with**
**more dogs and their owners needing**
**our help. Consequently, we not only**
**became a rescue but an advice service**
**in the belief that it was better to keep**
**dogs with their owners if possible.**
**This meant establishing new**
**relationships with local vets and other**
**local bodies which asked for our help.**
**In order to fund our work, we opened**
**another in the fishing/holiday village of**
**Amble. This proved to be very popular**
**with locals and tourists alike and as a**
**result we saw a steady income develop.**
**Added to this we also carried out**
**fundraising events including pop up**
**cafes, attendance at local shows and**
**street collections.**
**Five dogs were rescued and rehomed**
**with a further 5 being place into**
**permanent foster homes. These dogs**
**are fully supported until end of life.**
**We gave out grants totally just under**
**£2k in order to help owners on low**
**incomes pay vets fees, as well as**
**spending just under £4.5k on further**
**vets’ fees. We also provided pet food to**
**Amble and Wooler foodbanks on a**
**regular basis.**|
