The objects of the CIO are to further or benefit the residents of North Kirklees and West Yorkshire without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions by associating together the said residents and the local authorities, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the residents. 

In furtherance of these objects but not otherwise, the trustees shall have power: to establish or secure the establishment of a community centre and to maintain or manage or co-operate with any statutory authority in the maintenance and management of such a centre for activities promoted by the charity in furtherance of the above objects.

Charity commission requires the trustees of a charity to:

- • Make judgement and accounting estimates that are reasonable and prudent;

The Trustees are responsible for the keeping of proper accounting records, which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and to enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charity Act 2011. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** 

The charity’s achievements and performances during the year were as follows: 

- The charity had over 10,500 individual person visits by members of the community. 

- Young people’s program worked with 80 young people a week. 

- • Community champions worked with hard-to-reach groups and supported the most vulnerable in achieving health messages and support. 

- • Community trips and excursions have had 380 individuals attending the program

- Community food initiatives included food pantry, weekly food program supporting families 

- The charity provided warm spaces support for access to facilities where people were able to access support in relation to cost of living crisis 

- Our community champions project managed to train 12 local people in supporting the community as community champions delivering various community health prevention messages reaching over 1500 people 

## **Section E                    Financial review** 

**Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves** 

The charity reserve policy is to be used when income is limited and unexpected costs increase of services, goods, cost of living and up keep. This will consist of funds to support projects for 12 months and unexpected arising upkeep costs. The reserve policy is to be reviewed yearly in line of the charity’s annual accounts and return.

**Responsibilities and basis of report** 

As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). 

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
