March **2012** **TAR** 2 ## The trustees are delighted to report the following: 1. GMCoM was successfully registered as a CIO with the charity commission, and this allowed the trustees to start the mission for an effective leadership for the Muslim communities of Greater Manchester. 2. The trustees recruited a temporary admin support to help them with the day-to-day activities. The admin support has extensive experience of working in the charity sector. **Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)** 3. The trustees successfully opened two bank accounts for GMCoM. The principal bank account is with the Co-op Bank 4. The trustees also commissioned the development of a draft website for GMCoM along with the corporate design of its logo and other PR needs. 5. The trustees engaged with the already established councils of mosques as well as the ones which are being developed and offered support and advice to ensure a streamlined approach across all boroughs. 6. The highlight of work to date has been the launch event which took place in early December and was attended by over 180 people from around the Greater Manchester from various backgrounds. The aim of the launch event was to introduce GMCoM to audience across all boroughs of Greater Manchester covering its journey so far and plans for the future. ## **Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information)** March **2012** **TAR** 3 All trustees and two volunteers contributed to the work to date.
