## **Activities and Achievements**

Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit

The charity was registered on the 19[th] May 2022, following an intensive period of planning.

During the reporting period, the charity’s monthly programme included six live jazz performances, involving top acts and including one from Argentina. These performances were ticketed at a level to cover costs, with a 50% discount for those aged under 18 years.

The charity also staged its annual wall2wall Jazz Festival, which included 5 live performances – one of which featured an act from Switzerland. A number of workshops were organised during the festival, including one for young children. The festival also marked the launch of BMJazz Katz – a big band ongoing programme for youngsters aged between 10 and 18 years. The Sunday of the wall2wall Jazz Festival is traditionally a free-access community day and 2022 was no different. The Sunday programme included free music, videos and workshops.

## Summary of the main achievements during the period

Registering as a CIO with the Charities Commission was in itself a major achievement.

Returning to well-attended live programmes, after two years of pandemic restrictions was very gratifying.

The launch of BMJazz Katz for younger players was an important milestone that laid the foundations for an ongoing programme in 2023 and beyond. It also allows for other ideas to be developed, one of which involves making refurbished musical instruments available to others.

The music programme organised by the charity has always had a ‘wide base’, which has contributed to a strong message of ‘inclusion’. During the period of this report, attention was afforded to developing a broader definition ‘diversity’, with the introduction of a selection of workshops.

The charities new structure and expanding activities has attracted a number of volunteers, who offer valuable advice and practical support.

## **The Charity’s Policy on Reserves**

The charity does not keep reserves but it does ensure that funds in its current account are sufficient to meet ongoing needs and any carried forward liabilities.
