Chairman's Report for the Year 2024
Bridport Musical Theatre Company,
Introduction
The year 2024 has been a remarkable and transformative period for our theatre company charity. Our dedicated members, volunteers, and supporters have come together to create unforgettable experiences, fostering a sense of community and promoting the arts in our town.
Tribute Musical Show
One of the most significant highlights of the year was the tribute musical show dedicated to our late director, Dave Swaffield. Held at the Bridport Arts Centre, this event was a heartfelt homage to Dave's incredible legacy and contributions to our theatre company. The show was met with overwhelming support and attendance, bringing together friends, family, and fans to celebrate his life and work.
Production of Kinky Boots
Following the tribute show, we staged a production of the stage musical "Kinky Boots," which turned out to be a phenomenal success. The show was a complete sell-out, receiving rave reviews from audiences and critics alike. The vibrant performances and high-energy production captivated everyone who attended, making it one of our most successful shows to date.
Member Involvement
Throughout the year, our charity provided over 100 members with the opportunity to participate in high-standard musical theatre productions. These opportunities have not only allowed our members to develop their talents but also to build lasting friendships and create memories that will be cherished for years to come. The sense of accomplishment and joy experienced by our members is truly inspiring.
Supporting Local Businesses
Our productions have also had a positive impact on the local economy. The two major shows of the year provided work for local businesses, including costume designers, sound and lighting engineers, the arts centre and the electric palace theatres, program printers etc. By collaborating with these businesses, we have strengthened our ties within the community and contributed to the economic well-being of our town.
Community Engagement
Our events and productions have played a crucial role in bringing the entire town together. The shared experiences and collective passion for the arts have fostered a sense of unity and pride
among our residents. We are grateful for the unwavering support from the community and look forward to continuing our mission of promoting the arts and enriching lives through theatre.
