Charity registration number: 1198985

Haverhill Arts Centre, High Street, Haverhill, Suffolk. CB9 8AR

Trustees:

Charles Gurteen Julian Hartshorn Aaron Luccarini Richard Sisman Brian Thompson Anthony Charles Turner

The Haverhill Local History Museum is a non-profit organisation run by volunteers. The Trustees oversee the financial and management, with a small management committee that oversees the day-to-day operations of the museum.

The objective of the museum is to maintain, collect, preserve, interpret and make accessible the history of Haverhill and its surrounding district for the benefit of the local community and general public at large.

The museum is open to the public for 2 hrs on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in the morning and for 4 hrs on Saturday and is open other times by prior arrangement.

Throughout the year ‘Open days’ are held as well as visits from schools and various groups in the local district. The museum also receives request to visit local schools and groups, including those with special needs, to deliver various presentations. The museum also engages via their website and social media.

The museum has an exhibition space which is changed at least quarterly and also provides a display within the Arts Centre where it is based.

The museum publishes ‘The Haverhill Historian’ twice a year and has produced many books of local interest over the years.

The Museum’s income is primarily from membership fees, book sales and donations from the general public. However, we are indebted to the Haverhill Local Town Council who provide the museum with a grant annually, which as well as assisting with rental of the premises, this also assist with general running cost. We do have a reserve policy and as of today we have £3,500 in our reserve fund.
