## **ACTIVITIES & REVIEW OF THE YEAR**

## **HARPENDEN LIONS CLUB CIO**

The Charity’s principal aim is to help the needy, by both physical assistance and by making pecuniary grants.

We raise money via The Lions Bookshop, Christmas collections and a variety of fund-raising events throughout the year. This includes the annual Highland Gathering which is the largest of the charitable events undertaken during the year.

Harpenden Lions Club CIO support the Life Skills project (renamed Youth Support with widened objectives with effect from 1 July 2025) and distributes the proceeds of fund-raising activities by making grants to registered charities, Lions Clubs International, schools and individuals.

## **TRUSTEES RESPONSIBILITIES**

The Trustees are required by law to prepare accounts for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the financial state of the Charity and the results for the year then ended.

In preparing the accounts, the Trustees are required to select suitable accounting policies and apply them on a consistent basis, making judgments and estimates that are prudent and reasonable. The Trustees must also prepare the accounts on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue its operations.

The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and to enable them to ensure that the accounts comply with the Charities Act 1993.

The Trustees are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Charity and taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

th
In respect of the Accounting Period 1" July 2024-30 June 2025
Independent Examiner's Reportto the Trustees &
Members of the Harpenden Lions Club
I have examined the books and records of the Club for the financial year
th
ending 30 June 2025 and confirm that adequate records have been kept.
The Club, in common with many others of similar size and organisation,
derives much ot its income from Fundraising Activities and Donations which
cannot be controlled until they are entered in the accounting records and
are not. therefore, susceptible to independent audit and verification.
Subject to the foregoing, in my opinion the financial statements attached
give a fair view of the state of the Club's affairs and of the receipts and
payments tor the year then ended.
