|Policy on grant making|Para 1.38|RangerLab works in partnership with<br>conservation partners on the ground to<br>ensure that grants are effectively utilised. Our<br>conservation partners are well-known in our<br>sector to have consistently complied with<br>other, larger, grant-making bodies and part of<br>the project selection process has included<br>speaking with these bodies prior to<br>commencing grant-making.<br>The grant making process includes<br>consultation between our local partners and<br>the potential grant recipient, consideration of<br>the utility of a grant by the RangerLab<br>Trustees.. RangerLab monitors the<br>application of grants to ensure that they have<br>been applied for the purposes for which they<br>have been given by asking for photographic<br>evidence of procurement, and where<br>appropriate, breakdowns of receipts of<br>expenditure.<br>In the instance of donations of equipment<br>being made to wildlife rangers, photographic<br>evidence of the equipment being deployed<br>and worn by beneficiaries gives our Trustees<br>enough surety on the effective usage of this<br>grant making activity.|

|Summary of the main<br>achievements of the charity,<br>identifying the difference the<br>charity’s work has made to<br>the circumstances of its<br>beneficiaries and any wider<br>benefits to society as a<br>whole.|Para 1.20|In May 2022, we partnered with Stance<br>Socks, a globally recognised sock retailer,<br>to supply 400 pairs of socks, valued at<br>£8.80 each, to Game Rangers International<br>(a registered Non-Governmental<br>Organisation in Zambia. Cert. No. RNGO<br>101/0185/2014 - ISSUE 2): our Zambian<br>conservation partners. These socks were<br>specifically designed to be robust enough<br>for the demands of anti-poaching units in<br>the region. Alongside this, we told the<br>stories of a handful of those wildlife rangers<br>who received this grant, explaining the<br>challenges and opportunities related to their<br>roles and lives.<br>In January 2023, we made a financial grant<br>of £5,000 to the High Asia Habitat Fund (a<br>registered non-profit entity under sections 8<br>and 12A of the Indian Companies Act):<br>our Asian conservation partners. The grant,<br>focussed on supporting two wildlife ranger<br>teams in the Issyk Kul Province, primarily<br>for use in the Sarychat-Ertash Nature<br>Reserve. The funding, inter alia, helped our<br>partners procure eight winter jackets, eight<br>sleeping bags, fourteen pairs of boots, a<br>stove and kitchen set and a diesel<br>generator to help the team live and work<br>with better conditions. These provisions<br>make significant improvements to working<br>wellbeing when considering the challenging<br>temperatures in the region.<br>In March 2023, we made a grant of various<br>items of kit to National Park Rescue (a<br>Zimbabwean Registered Trust which also<br>has a UK “friends of” charity of the same<br>name, registered charity number 1170025):<br>our Zimbabwean conservation partners.<br>Included in the provision were 20 reusable<br>period products to improve sanitary health,<br>two pairs of socks for each staff member,<br>berets, jacket badges, stock tee shirts. This<br>was accompanied by a project visit by our<br>Honorary Executive Director to meet and<br>interact with wildlife rangers in the Chizarira<br>National Park.<br>In April 2023, we made a financial grant of<br>£1,900 to replenish the entire stock of boots<br>for National Park Rescue, meaning that<br>each wildlife ranger had a sufficient pair of<br>footwear, including spares.<br>In May 2023, we partnered with Patagonia,<br>a globally recognised retailer, to provide 38|

state of the art base layers to the High Asia Habitat Fund, our Asian conservation partners. These baselayers were valued at £32 per unit. In this supply, the base layers were distributed between Indian and Kyrgyz wildlife rangers. This will ensure that these wildlife rangers will be able to work in more challenging environments. In July 2023, we made a financial grant of £5,000 to Game Rangers International (GRI). This grant was made to supply the entirety of the GRI anti-poaching units across the Kafue National Park. In total, 200 jackets were supplied, giving wildlife rangers their own to keep them warm during the winter months. In September 2023, we partnered with Tusk Trust, (UK charity 1186533) on the Wildlife Ranger Challenge. In doing so, we provided 375 pairs of socks in total, to the winners of the various challenges. The winning teams of the various challenges including Tarangire Ecosystem Team in Tanzania, the 21km team winner, Gonarezhou Conservation Trust in Zimbabwe, the sit up, push-up, and K9 challenge winners and the Karingani Game Reserve in Mozambique, winners of the quiz.
