## **CIO Trustees’ Report May 22-June 23** 

Set up in 1971, London Nightline has been running an overnight support service for students across the capital for over 50 years. 

In recent years, the trustees have discussed and made the decision to move from being an unincorporated charity (charity number 1015744) into a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), a legal structure that better suits the type of organisation that we are now. 

We registered the new legal entity with the Charity Commission in May 2022 and, thanks to probono support from lawyers at Travers Smith, started the journey to legally change to our new structure. 

The authorisation to transfer the assets and liabilities to the CIO was granted by the Charity Commission in October 2023, which is after the period of time this report relates to. This explains why from May 2022 to June 2023, the income and expenditure of this CIO was £0 and no staff or volunteers were working for the charity. The transfer to the CIO and all of the associated reporting takes place in the 23-24 financial year.
