particularly for Personal Independence pa￿MentS (PIPI ladulls). EmployThenl Supplement Allowance IESA)
{adultsl, Capability for Work fomis IUCS) - Adults). Disability LNin9 Alowance IDLA) {chi￿ren1, Attendance
Allowance {A4) leldeflyl. We also support d￿nts bmlh ￿litional issues may cause financial or emotional
difficulty.

importantly, Ihwgh, for our many *￿sebOUnd dbents, we make home visrts. We appeal against refvsed
applications at Benefits Tribunals have supported the initiai appl￿tion.. Very few organisations
locally offer these partir#Jlar servus.
- Weware benefit applications are complex and time ¢on$uming. It can take up to 4 h￿r$ to ￿M￿ete a PIP,
DLA or ESA form, not induding lime to obtain medul. educatK)nal and social reports from professionals. This
is often an impossi￿e task for the most vulnera￿e in our communty. We estatJish relationships arKI trust with
our cllents.

Tribunal Appeals.. We provKfe informed supwt lo Appeal al Tribunals against refused benefits appllcations
for those who have no legal knovAedge, and canl affcrfd legal repre8entatK)n.

gained by wor(J of mouth.
- We continue to support children and families. adults and an increasirrfj number of elderfy people.
- We have continued lo visit those peO￿e wth disabilities who are housebound, have provided onlin8,
telephone helpllne and e-mail advti. We have conducted office based interwews.
- We have successfully represented d￿nts al an Ir￿feased number of Appeals lo Benefrts Tribunals.
- We ￿¢r￿lI and train volunteers. The majryty of our management ¢ommrtlee. staff and volunteers either have
a disability, or have experience of caring for someone has a disabilty, gMrNJ us uniqu8 insights into coping
Ih disability and the benefits syElem.
We have well established links wlth NHS Ixactices. health professionals. Communlty and Voluntary
organisations and family services. They are abre lo signpost their dients to our service5.
- Through our links wlth partner agen￿. have been able to signpost peop￿ to those who have speclalist
expertise in areas other than ours.
- We provide value for money lo our funders: over thk8 past financ￿91 ￿ar (April 2023 to March 20241 with
eleven part-lime staff. we dealt wih m￿e Ihan 5.CQO cOnt￿ts V￿th m￿e than 800 dients. Those were mostly
by Idephone or Offic￿baSed Interv￿5. In financial terms, on an annual expe￿drtu￿ of al)out £140,000 we
obtained over £750,000 (annual equNalent) in *eifare benefits for Our clients.
- Government welfare changes involve a rdliTrJ pr(xJramme of reassessing th8 needs of PIP clients, and
the rollout of Universal Credit. has progressivety inc*eased the need for ￿r seNk£.

In 2023, the closing balance from DISH. register charity 1061702 vms transferred lo this nthy incorporated
charity. This is shown as a donation receNed from 'DISH - the old chanw totalling £156.470. The splll was
unre$trl¢ted funds of £74,022 and reStr￿ted funds of £82,448.
Annual Budgets are sel Vth￿h fonn the basis of our expenditure pattem aThl an accouftt of actual income and
expendilure is reported lo the management t*)ard al each bi4nonthty meetirvJ. We adhere to agreed financial
procedures Nthich follow th8 Charity Commission guiddines.
Resorvo• pollcy
The Management CoMM￿ee has examined the charitls requirements for reserves in luhl of the main risks lo
the organisation. It has established a %thereby the unrestricted fvnds not ¢ommitttrJ or invested in
langible fixed assets held by the charity sI￿uld be be￿￿n 3 and 6 months of expenditure.
The charttys tnjstees agreed thal the Trserves polty Is to keep a minimum unresM¢led funds of £50,000 in the
bank at any given lime lo ensure that the chanty can continue lo deliver the DSSH programme in the long temi.
