THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS: FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT THE RELIEF OF CHILDREN THROUGHOUT ENGLAND DIAGNOSED WITH CONGENITAL MYOTONIC DYSTROPHY, THEIR FAMILIES AND CARERS BY OPERATING A SUPPORT GROUP, SIGNPOSTING SERVICES AND BY THE AWARD OF GRANTS OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO FUND THE PROVISION OF ESSENTIAL SPECIALIST EQUIPMENT, OTHER ITEMS AND FUN DAY TRIPS AND EXPERIENCES TO RELIEVE ISOLATION. |

Family Support Group – The charity has organised families to meet up in the last year at various locatons to enable the children with the conditon to interact in a safe and enjoyable environment. The parents have shared their experiences with each other and been able to share their contact details to relieve the isolaton they feel. Specialist orthotcs have been funded for 2 families as walking aids. |
