Trustee’s Report

For period 28 April 2022 to 31 December 2023

During the past year, our first year as a registered charity, we continued to deliver on our mission of providing lifeguarding, water safety, and rescue services to communities and events across the UK, as well as educating the public in water safety and lifesaving skills. We supported our regular events and activities, each with resounding success, ensuring that members of the public are able to enjoy water safely. A special focus was placed on facilitating training courses, and we successfully trialled the delivery of the RLSS Open Water Lifeguard as well as opening conversations with Attenborough Sailing Club with the aim of collaborating on RYA Powerboat courses in the future.

Gaining new members, our management committee has expanded, welcoming new expertise and we have established ourselves as a strong and cohesive team. We implemented tools such as Google Workspace and Xero to help us manage tasks and collaborate efficiently. Our partnership with the Royal Lifesaving Society UK has grown stronger, facilitated by a passionate team that supports our objectives enabling us to continue to support large events across the country.

Financially, we have performed strongly, with the inclusion of Secret Garden Party and the success of Open Water Lifeguard courses further solidifying our financial foundation, leaving us in a strong position for the following year. We currently have the next 12 months of costs covered, allowing us to commit to supporting such events once more.

Looking ahead, we are making efforts to further capitalise on our status as a registered charity, exploring grants and funding opportunities to revitalise our fleet and equipment, which continues to age and will soon require replacing. Our success in delivering qualifications has inspired confidence in our ability to continue training the next generation of water safety volunteers, as well as providing a strong income stream, and we aim to maintain these throughout the next year.

Our enduring dedication to water safety education, event support, community engagement, and collaboration has yielded positive outcomes and we extend sincere appreciation to our volunteers and community partners for their support. Together, we are unwavering in our commitment to fostering a safer environment for water-based activities and contributing to the well-being of our community.
