P3Je5of5 4GE Trustees Report- March 2023 The first year of operations for The Blackbushe Heritage Trust has been a busy one. The project began when a Vickers Viking aircraft that once operated from Blackbushe, was discovered at a small airfield in Austria. One of the few remaining aircraft of its type in the world, the Team desperately wanted to bring her home to Blackbushe so she could be restored to her former glory. The Trustees are made up of aviation enthusiasts, pilots, engineers lone of whom worked on the Vickers Viking when it was operationall and Blackbushe Airport management. Our mission is to build a heritage centre at Blackbushe Airport, celebrating over 80 years of aviation history. Vickers Vikin9 G-AGRW will be the centrepiece. We plan to restore the aircraft so that it can be boarded and create a leaming experience for adults and children alike. The restoration team will be predominantly volunteers but we plan to engage with the local colleges and community projects to give people hands on experience of aircraft engineering. This year we have been busy layin9 the groundwork to ensure that we have the volunteers ready to get to work once the aircraft arrives. The project was launched at the Blackbushe Airport 80th Open Day in June 2022. The support shown by the aviation and local community alike was phenomenal. It showed the Trustees that there was a real appetite to keep the history of the airport alive. Fundraising has been paramount for the first year of the Trust. Fundraising has consisted of a range of activities. Local aviation specialists have given talks, we've had guiz nights, we've been on the road to aviation events and we've held raffles. Predominantly the funds have come from large donations. We need to raise over £30,000 to purchase and repatriate the aircraft. We've now managed to secure the aircraft and with the target nearly met. plans are currently underway to recover the aircraft in May.
