Report of the Trustees
The Trustees, who are also Directors of the charity for the purposes of the Companies Act 2006, present their report with the <inancial statements of the charity for the period 1st April 2024 to 31st March 2025. The Trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019).

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITY AND CHARITABLE OBJECTIVES
The object of SingersResound is to preserve and protect the physical and mental health of opera and classical singers when they have encountered difficulties which impact their ability to perform. The charity ful<ils this objective by providing a mentoring programme, offering con<idential support and education to help rebuild con<idence, skills and to help alleviate isolation.
MISSION STATEMENT
The charity’s mission is to create a network of peers in which singers can receive support when dealing with challenges affecting their ability to work. SingersResound aims to facilitate the physical and mental wellbeing of classical singers through two key pathways; mentoring and workshops. SingersResound offers bene<iciaries 4 hours of free mentoring, with one trained mentor. At SingersResound, there are 16 mentors, all of whom are professionals in the opera and classical music world, and who bring a wide range of skills to their mentoring. Mentors are trained by professional psychotherapist, Lowri Dowthwaite-Walsh, who is a Senior Lecturer in Psychological Interventions at the University of Central Lancashire. Lowri conducts sessions with mentors to ensure they provide the most suitable and compassionate support to singers. Much of the charity’s work takes place online, therefore bene<iciaries face no geographic barriers to accessing the service. Beyond these con<idential and private sessions, SingersResound runs a programme of free workshops, the object of which is to enable singers to participate in engaging, informative and enjoyable workshops led by experts in a range of <ields, whilst also encouraging mentees to maintain contact with SingersResound.

ACTIVITY – OUTPUT AND IMPACT

SingersResound continued to provide its service of online mentoring. In this period, 27 singers contacted SingersResound; 14 bene<iciaries received initial meetings and/or mentoring during this time, with a further 4 bene<iciaries still in mentoring at the end of the <inancial year, and those who did not receive mentoring were either guided towards other organisations or did not follow up with SR after initial contact.

In this period, SingersResound hosted workshops led by experts in a range of <ields. SingersResound’s Director Linda Kitchen led a workshop entitled ‘Taking the Fear Out of Auditioning” and psychotherapist Phiroze Neemuchwala led two workshops, one entitled “Understanding Guilt, Shame and Boundaries” and another as part of his series ‘HeadStrong’, which focused on expectations, disappointment and demands.

Peter Savidge stepped away as a SingersResound Trustee in the summer of 2024, but has remained a mentor.

SingersResound welcomed two new Trustees on 31st March 2025; Simon Spence KC and Dr Ann Pritchard. The present Trustees met with Dr Ann Pritchard and Simon Spence on 31st March 2025 and unanimously voted YES to Dr Ann Pritchard and Simon Spence joining the Board of Trustees.

SingersResound hired for two roles on a self-employed basis. John Graham-Hall joined the team as Fundraising Director in May 2024 and Lily Sitzia took over as Administrative Director as Dawn Burns resigned in February 2025.

More fundraising initiatives were implemented throughout the period, most notably the beginning stages of SingersResound’s brochure. The aim of the brochure is to raise awareness of the charity and encourage donations to help assist the longevity of SingersResound. The brochure was designed with two versions, paper and online, to maximise distribution. Whilst the brochure was not complete at the end of the period, it remained in production. John Graham-Hall also made contact with high net worth individuals during this time period, establishing connections and relationships to continue <inancial support of SingersResound, most notably with Malcolm Herring who donated £2,500 to SingersResound in September 2024 as part of an annual pledge.

SingersResound started a blog series entitled, “In Conversation With…” in March 2025, which features on the website. Each month, a mentor writes a blog promoted by questions but developed with the mentor’s own interests in mind, looking at their experiences in the industry, challenges they’ve faced, and ways they’ve overcome hardships. Each blog is posted onto the website as well as SingersResound social media channels (Instagram and Facebook). The aim of the blog is to open up conversations around the pressures, struggles, joys and experiences of the industry, allowing readers to hear from world-class singers and musicians and feel a shared understanding of the experiences they all face.

FINANCIAL REVIEW
During the <inancial year ending 31st March 2025, the charity reported: Income: £3,502 primarily from donations
Expenditure: £4,970 including costs related to administrative fees, workshops and expenses
POLICIES
In line with its charitable obligation, the company has established a robust set of policies including; safeguarding; data protection; equal opportunities; health and safety; dignity at work; <inancial procedures.
