Report of The Trustees for the year Ending 31[st ] August 2025

The trustees present their report and financial statements for the year ending 31[st ] August 2025.

Structure Governance and Management

The charity is a CIO and was first registered on the 21[st ] April 2022.

Objectives

The provision and maintenance of a village hall for the use of the inhabitants of Bradpole and the surrounding neighbourhood without distinction of political, religious, or other opinions, including use for: a) meetings, lectures and classes, and b) other forms of recreation.

Activities

The principal activity of the Village Hall is to be let out to local clubs and societies, and individuals residing in Bradpole for the purpose of classes, meetings, lectures, social events, recreation, exhibitions, entertainment, and sporting activities with the object of improving the quality of life for all age groups.

Public Benefit

The trustees have paid due regard to the Charity Commissions guidance on public benefit in deciding the activities which take place in the Village Hall. The trustees are satisfied that the

information provided in the report and accounts meet the public benefit reporting requirements.

Contribution of volunteers

There are 5 trustees involved in the charity, none of whom receive any remuneration for their roles.

Achievements

During the course of the year the hall was let out to Bridport Town Council to hold open days for people living in Bradpole, to facilitate them meeting our local Town councillors. In addition, we have 8 or more groups and societies running activities in the hall on a weekly basis, a reduction on the previous year, reflecting the financial hardship being felt both by the groups and their members. The hall has been let out to private individuals on 9 occasions for private functions, an increase on the previous year. The clubs and societies cover all age groups and promote both physical and mental wellbeing and educational fulfilment for local residents. The Hall was also used by the Hall Committee to run a table top sale and whilst the profit from that was only small at £121, it was very successful for those that hired a table and enjoyed by the many local residents who attended.

Financial Review

Receipts for the Year amounted to £6,305 (2024, £10,105) whilst Expenditure amounted to £9,287 ( 2024, £15,075) producing a deficit of £2,937 (2024, £4,970). Whilst it is the aim of the Trustees to ensure that on an ongoing basis, Receipts will be greater than Expenditure, current year repairs to the fabric of the building meant that in common with the previous year Expenditure remained greater than Receipts. Repairs and maintenance amounted to £3,513 of which £785 was spent on upgrading the fuse board to conform to regulations, £1,295 on repairs and painting of external and internal window frames and internal skirting boards and £1,332 on repairs to the boiler and central heating system. Without this exceptional expenditure receipts would have exceeded expenditure. High expenditure on repairs is not budgeted for the year ending August 2026, when it is expected that Receipts and Expenditure will be more closely aligned. It should be noted that we no longer receive rent from Bradpole Parish Council, following its absorption into Bridport Town Council, such receipts amounted to £2,503 in the year ending August 2024.

At the end of the financial period the Charity held a very healthy figure of £13,707 in its normal trading account, and £8,915 in a savings account. The savings account in effect acts as the reserves of the Charity.

Declarations

The trustees declare that they have approved the trustees report above.
