The trnstees have pleasure in presenting their rewrt and the unaudited financial statements of the
organisation for the year end¢d 31 March 2025.
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
The airns of the charity shall be to..
ror the public benefit, the prevention or relief of poverty in Derby, in particular but not
exclusively by providing emergency food supplies and related provisions to individuals in
need and to other charitable organisations in Derby working to prevent or relieve poverty
SUMMARY OF THE MAIN ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT
IN RELATION TO THESE OBJECTS
In planning the activities for the y¢ar, th¢ Charity kept in mind the Charity Commission's
guidance on public benefit and in all its meetings the Trustees ensured that this was the driving
force behind the Charity's activities.
ACHIEVEMENfs AND PERFORMANCE
Despite increased pressures of dcmand for service, l¢ad to us b¢ing less than 4 weeks away
from running out of funds in August, to ending the year in the best fjnancial position since
becoming an independent charity in 2023.
Distributed 19,575 f(M)d pa￿elS with paTln¢rs, ensuring that those facing fi)od insecurity we
support¢d during the cosÉ-of-living crisis.
This equated to £465,873 retail valu¢ of food making 176.175 meals within those parcels
We supported 22848 Adults and 14283 children through ihese parcels
W¢ r￿iStributed over £210,000 of surplus fi)od that could have ended in landfill - increase of
over £40,000 from last y¢ar

For 2 year in row we raised and spent over £100, 000 on purchasing food to ensure we could
meet the supply and demand of those in need.
Provided Christmas support on top of nomial food parcel provision we provided 2642 meals
via hampers or hot meals equating to 21,105 meals, including over 3200 children.
We have supported with over 1200 applications for Hi)usehold Fund support, winter essentials
& over 800 children with school unifom in our summer campaign.
We successfully secured funding to launch our new furniiure and electrical projecl helping
those facing the challenge of making 'home' or eating.
Led on 2 child poverty summits as part of our role within the Derby Poverty Commission and
played leading role in development of Derby's Anti-Poverty Strategy.

Continued to increase the partner prOJ￿tS who work with us to a total of 19 food bank or
community shop or pantries meaning we have offer in all wards of the city and over 30 warn
welcome Style projects.
W¢ hav¢ started development of a Derby meM￿r$hIp scheme for R￿¢5S1ng food support and
working with extenMI partner to o￿n Derby's I" Community Shop selling surplus food it¢ms
at low cost.
Took over the running of I cornmunity hub that was at risk of collapse and set up a new offer
in one ward of the city. We are progressing to handover the 2 Wami welcomes we took over
during last financial year.
Celebrated 5 years of Derby f(￿d 4 Thought Alliance in March 2025.
STRUCTURE GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Governing document
Derby Food 4 Thought Alliance has as its registered office 30 Charnwood Street. Derby,
DEI IGU. is a CIO (charity registration No. 1198665) and registered with the Charity
Commission on 20 April 2023.
Trustee selection
The Trustees yearly undertake a skills audit to ascertain those skills that are required of trustees.
Efforts are made to recruit as Twstecs persons who have among them the range of skills
necessary or deslrdble for the conduct of ihe Charity's work and fulfilment of its objects in its
field of operation.
Risk management policy
Th¢ Trus¢e¢s examine the major risks facing Derby Food 4 Thought Alliance annually when
updating business plans. Systems have been developed to monitor and Counter such risks, to
lessen any impact they may have in the futu￿.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
Reserves Policy
The charity has a reserves policy to hold three Months running costs in reserves. At 31 March
2025 the charity had unrcstricted reserves of £31,716.
Independent Examiner
Mark Newey of Derby Community Accountancy Service and will be in office as inde￿ndent
examiner for the ensuing year.

The principal accounting wlicies adopt¢d. judgements and key sources of estimation
uncertainty in the preparation of the financial statements are as follows..

1.1 Aceounting ¢ottveDtion
These accounts have been prepared in accordance with FRS 102, "The Financial Reporting
Standard applicable in th¢ UK and Republic of Ireland" ("FRS 102,), "Accounting and
Reporting by Charities" Ihe Statement of Recommended Practi¢e for charities applying FRS
102, the Companies Act 2006 and UK Generally Accepted Accounling Practice as it applies
from l January 2015. The organisalion is a Public Benefit Entity as defined by FRS 102.
The accounts are prepared in Sterling whi¢h is the functional currency of the organisation.
Monetary amounts in th¢s¢ fjnancial statements lo the nearest £.
The accounts have been prepared on historical cost convention apart from freehold property
that is carried at markct value. The prineipal accounting policies adopted are set out below.
These are accounts for the year ¢nd¢d 31 March 2025 are prepared in accordance with fRS
102, The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland. The
impact on the reported financial position and finan¢ial performance for the previous year are
not affected by the transition to FRS 102.
1.2 Going concern
At the time of approving the accounts, the Board have a reasonable expeclalion that the
organisation has adequate resour¢¢s to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable
future. Thus the Board continue to adopi the going ￿ncern basis of accounting in preparing the
accounts.
1.3 Charitable Funds
Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the Board in furthernnce of the
gcnerdl objectives of the organisation.
Designated funds are unrcslricled funds ￿Miarked by the Board for particular purposes.
Restrlcted funds are subjected to restrictions on thelr expenditure imEX)sed by the donor or
through the ternis of an appeal.
1.4 Incoming resources
All incoming resources a￿ included in the SOPA when the organisation is legally entitled to
the income and th¢ amount ¢an b¢ quantified with reasonable accuracy. Gifts in kind have been
included at markel value of gifts received and in assets acquired. No amounts are included in
the financial statements for services donated by volunteer5.

1.5 Resources expended
All cxpenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been Classified under headings
that agg￿gate all ¢05ts relaling to the category. Where costs cannot be directly attribuied to
particular headings they have been allocated to activlties on a basis consistent with use of the
resources. Fund-raising costs are those incurred in seeking voluntary contributions and do not
include the costs of diss¢minating information in the support of the ¢haritabl¢ activities.
1.6 Debtors
Trade and othcr debtors are recognised at the settlement amount due aftcr any trade discounts
offered. Prepayments ar¢ valued at the amount prepaid net of any trade disLounts due.
1.7 Cash and Cash equivalents
Cash and cash equivalents include ¢ash in hand. deposits held at call with bank4 other short
tern] liquid investments with Original malurities of three months or less. and bank overdrafts.
Bank overdrafts are shown within bo￿owingS in current liabilities.
1.8 Creditors and provision$
Creditors and provisions are reco8nAsed where the organisation has a present obligation
resulting from a past event that will probably result in the transfer of funds to a third party and
the amount due to settle the obligation can be measured or estimated reliably. Creditors and
provisions are nonnally recognised at their settlement amount after allowing for any trade
discounts due.
1.9 FiDaJJcial instrument5
The organisAtion has financial assets and financial liabilities of a kind that qualify as basic
financia] instruments. Basic financial instruments are initially recognised at transaction value
and subsequently measured at their settlement Value.

Financial liabilities are d¢r￿QgnIscd wh¢n th¢ organi5ation's Gontractual obligations expire or
are discharged or cancelled.
1.10 Employee benefits
The cost of any unused holiday entitlement is recognised in the year in whi¢h th¢ employee's
services are received.
Temination benefits are re¢ognised immcdiat¢ly as an ¢xpen5¢ when the board is
demonstrably commiited to terniinate the employment of an employee or to provide
temilnation benefits.
1.11 Taxation
The organisation 15 exempt from tax on income and gains falling with section 505 of the Taxes
Act 1988 or section 252 of the Taxation of Chargeable Gains Act 1992 to the extent that these
are applied to its charitsble objects.
