The trustees have pleasure in presenting their report and the unaudited flnancial statements of the
organisation for the year end¢d 31 March 2024.
OWECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
The aims of the charity shall be to,.
For the public benefit, the prevention or rclief of poverty in Derby, in particular but not
exclusively by providing emergency food supplies and related provisions to individuals in
need and to other charltable organÈsations in Derby working to prevent or r¢lieve povety
SUMMARY OF THE MAIN ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT
IN RELATION TO THESE OWECTS
In planning the activities for the year, the Charity kept in mind the Charity Commission's
guidan￿ on public benefit and in all its me¢tings the Trustees ¢nsur¢d that this was the driving
force behind the Charity's activities.
ACHIEVEMEiYfs AND PERFORNANCE
Despite challenging times for the voluntary and the rise in demand of support we raised
enough supw)rt through donations and grants to meet all the charitabl¢ aims and
objectives.
Distributed 20,107 food parcels with partners, ensuring that those facing food insecurity
were supported during the cost of living crisis.
This equated to £489,772 retail value of food making 180.963 meals within those parcels
We supported 23,380 Adults and 13.512 children through th¢se parcels
We ￿1]StrIbuted over £170,000 of surplus food that could have ended in landfill
Provided Christhias support on top of normal food parcel provision we provided 2622
meals via hamp¢rs or hot meals, including over 400 children.
W¢ appli¢d for 913 applications for additional financial supwrt helping a total of 1184

We rnised and spent £E10254 on purchasing food to ensure we could meet the supply and
demand of those in need.
We successfully transitioned from being a part of Community Action Derby to an
independent charity
Increased the partner projects who work with u5 to a total of15 food bank or Community
thop or pantri¢s and over 30 warni welcome style projects.
We successfully 5UPtx)rted 5 projects to transition from a traditional food bank to a more
dignified shop or pantry model.

Successfully delivered a school uniform project in the summer of 2023 and supported 687
children, so that families didn't have to face food insecurity due to uniforn) costs.
Took over the running of 2 wann Welcome projects that would have collapsed without
out support.
Celebrdted 4 years of Derby food 4 Thought Alliance in March 2024.
Had QVeT 3397 bags, boxes or trays of food donated.

Governing document
Derby Food 4 Thought Alliance has as its registered office 30 Chamwood Street. Derby,
DEI IGU. 15 a CIO (charity registration No. 1198665) and registered with the Charity
Commission on 20 April 2023.
Trustee seleetion
"rhe Trust¢¢5 yearly undertake A skills audit to ascertain those skills that are required of trustees.
Efforts are made to recruit as TnLstres persons who hav¢ among them the range of skills
necessary or desirable for the ¢onduct of the Charity's work and fulfilment of its objects in its
field of operation.
Risk management policy
The I"rustses examine the major risks facing Derby Food 4 Thought Alliane #nnually when
updating business pl￿s. Systems have been developed io monitor and count¢r such risks, to
lessen any irnpaci they may have in the future.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
Reserves Policy
The charity has a reserves FxTrlicy to hold three months running costs in reseryes. At 31 March
2024 the charity had unrestricted reserves of £747.
Independent Examiner
Mark Newey of Derby Community Accountancy Servi¢e and will be in office as independent
examiner for the ensuing year.

Accounting policies
The principal accounting pN)licies adopted, judgements and key sources of estimation
uncertainty in the preparation of the financial statements are as follows:
Organi5ation information
Derby Food 4 Thought Alliance's registered office is 30 Charnwood Street, D¢Tby. DEI IGU.
At the end of the year there were 3 trustees.
1.1 Aetounting convention
These accounts have been prepared in accordance with FRS 102, "The Financial Rew)rting
Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland" ("FRS 102-), "Accounting and
Reporting by Charities" the Statement of Recommended Practice for charities applying FRS
102, the Companies Act 2006 and UK Generally Accepted Accounting Practice as it applies
from l January 2015. The orgartisation is a Public Benefit Entity as defined by FRS 102.
The accounts are prepared in Sterling which is the functional currency of the organisation.
Monetary amounts in these financial statements to the nearest £.
The accounts have been prepared on historieal cost convention apart from freehold property
that is carri¢d at market value. The principal ac¢ounting policies adopted are set out below.
These are accounts for the year ended 31 March 2024 are prepared in accordance with FRS
102, The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in th¢ UK and Republic of Ireland. The
impact on the reported financial w>sition and financial perfomiance for the previous year are
not affe¢ted by the transition to FRS EO2.
1.2 Going concern
At the time of approving the accounts, th¢ Board have a reasonable ¢xJx¢tation that the
organisatiom has adequate resources to continue in operntional existence for the foreseeable
future. Thus the Board continue to adopt th¢ going ¢oncern basis of accounting in preparing the
accounts.
1.3 Cbaritable Funds
Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the Board in furtherance of th¢
general objectives of the organisation.
Designated funds are unrestricted funds earniarked by th¢ Board for particular putposes.
Restricted funds are subjected to restrictions QD thcir ¢xp¢nditur¢ imposed by the donor or
through the terms of an appeal.
1.4 Incoming rosources
All incoming resources are included in the SOFA when the organisation is legally entitled to
the income and the amount can be quantified with re&8onable accuracy. Gifts in kind have been
included at market value of gifts received and in assets acquired. No amounts are included in
the financial statements for services donated by volunteers.

1.5 Resources expended
All expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified und¢r headings
that aggregate all ¢osts relating to the category. Where costs cannot be directly attributed to
particular headings they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with use of the
resources. Fund-raising costs are those incutyed in s¢¢king voluntary contributions and do not
include the costs of disseminating information in the support of the charitabl¢ a¢tiviti¢s.
1.6 Debtors
Trade and other debtors are recognised at the settlement amount due after any trade discounts
offered. Prepaytnents ar¢ valued at the amount p￿paid net of any trade discounts due.
1.7 Cash and cash equlvAlents
Cash and cash equivalents include cash in hand, d¢wsits held at call with banks. other short
terrn liquid investments wlth original maturities of three months or less, and bank overdrafts.
Bank overth7fts are shown within borrowings in current liabllities.
1.8 Creditors and provisions
Creditors and provisions are recognised where the organisation ha5 a present obligation
resulting from a past event that will probably result in the traT]sfer of funds to a third paty and
the amount due to settle the obligation Can be measured or estimated reliably. Creditors and
provisions are normally recognised at their settlement amount after allowing for any trade
discounts due.
1.9 Financirdl instruments
The organisation has financial assets and financial Ilabilitics of a kind that qualify as basic
rjnancial instruments. Basic financial instrnments are initially recognised at transaction value
and subsequently measured at their settlement value.
Derecognilion off￿ancIal liabilill&s
Financial liabtlities are derecognised when the organisation's contrdctual obligations expl￿ or
are discharged or cancelled.
1.10 Employ¢¢ benefits
The cost of any unus¢d holiday entitlem¢nt is recognised in th¢ year in which the employ¢c's
services are received.
Temiination benefits are recognised Immediately as an eX￿nSe when thc board is
demonstrably ¢ornmitted to temiinate the employm¢nt of an employee or to provide
terniination benefits.
1.11 Taxation
The organisation is exempt from tsx on income and gains falling with section 505 of the Taxes
Act 1988 or section 252 of th¢ T&xation of Charg¢able Gains Act 1992 to the extent that these
are applied to its charitable objects.
