Trustees Report
Charitable Objective
Derby Food 4 Thought Alliance offers four types of provision. The provision offered will be based on the individual's personal circumstances and tailored to the level of support they require. We offer a coordinated model of - Emergency, Assistance, Community and other Initiative support, that will include advice, engagement, signposting to agencies and if required tailored specialist support.
Public Benefit
The trustees confirm that they have referred to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit when reviewing the organisation’s aims and objectives and in planning activities, and have complied with the Charities Act 2011.
Our main beneficiaries are residents of the city of Derby who are facing food insecurity, either through direct support or via partner projects.
Activities and Achievements during the year
We have been operating under the support of Community Action Derby for the last couple of years and outside of supporting those facing food insecurity our main aim has been the transition into an independent charity with our full independence to take place from the start of the new financial year starting April 2023.
Financial Review
Our finances have been managed by Community Action Derby under the governance of our trustees and senior manager who was also employed by Community Action Derby until the 31[st] March 2023. Although we have already set up our own bank account all income and expenditure is accounted for as part of their financial accounts.
Our first official accounts will be for the financial year ending 31[st] March 2024, hence our first return on the Charities commission website being a £0 return.
Future Plans
To develop as an independent charity and develop the project further to help address the food insecurity and the root causes of people’s deprivation and poverty alongside our partners.
This will be developed under our 4 themes, laid out in our strategic plan.
