In the past year, our Gharty has made s1gnifi￿nt s￿deS In achievlng its mission of supportlng
those indfvldu81s with mental heatth needs wllhin our centres in the Unfted Kingdom followng
our successfvl transrtion from a Charitable Trust lo a Charitable Ineorporaled Organisalion
(cio).
Becomlng a CIO was a crucial mil•stonè for our charity. provhJlrvJ us wllh greater operational
flexlbllity and legal proleclion. Thls new status has this year enhan￿j our abllity to manage
assets and enter contracts. while offering kmited Ilabllty protection for our trustees. The
transition reflects our oJmmrtm8nl to evofvlng and strengthèning our organizatlonal struclure
to better sorye our purpos8 and mlssion. As ￿ move forward. we are ¢onfyJ8nl thBt Ihls
thange will enable us to delN8r an even greater impxt and continue our growth with a solid

2023 was an Incredible year for our hospital. We achieved a slgnificanl milestone by ￿Ing
upgraded lo a secondary level facillty by NHIA and HeFRA. This recognldon is a testament lo
our commthnent lo provkjing quallty healthcare.

The inltiativè of the 8mpowenngnt program was brought up after reSea￿h $h¢)wed that 85%
of patients di$¢harged with good mental stale and having a w8rranled jobltrade do not relapse.
In 2023, we Increased capacity buildlng by reinfordng trgatment of SthlanGe Use and
Addidon Into our care.

This Centre is supported with the provision of sistors in a manngr similar to St Francis Xavler
HOS￿1. In addition to the work tn the hospital. there is also an adult mental heamh sgThice with
a day centre for adults 8nd young people with Intellectual disabSlltles. Mental health care in the
country is not subsldlsed by the govemm8nL so this s8rvi¢e is expens￿8 lo malntain. and the
Congregation ¢onlribules 90% ofthe cost, which includes treatment. programmes of a¢tivtbes,
salaries, food. and maintenance.
The Management ￿ partnership wlth the Diocesan's hgallh offKe is engaged in the
construction of a Mother and Chlld Department uslng their own resources. Their sim is to
Improve the service they offer in this ar8a.

The Irustses recognise the necesslty of ensuring the protection and safety of those in the
charity's care and are Committ￿ to Implemen￿ng all polScies and procedures of the Cathd
Safeguarding Standards Agency ICSSAI. The Congregation is a m8mber ofthe Religious Lrfe
SafeguardSng Servlce IRLSS). Ihls organisation offers support, knowledge in the aroa of
Safeguarding by providing taik)r-m8d& training and advice. The Catholic Safeguardlng
standards Agency ICSSA) provkjes stsnrlards, guldelines and audit. The Cha￿ty has
employgd a lay person who Gov9rs the rolo of Safeguardlng Lgad.
In addhlon, each Home follows the CQC and Care Act regulations laid out at a natbnal18vel
onceming the safeguarding of residents.

our dynamic collaborations. Whilst our home mosuy offered inside events that fostered
frièndship. w8 ventured beyond Ks walls to enjoy the bBauty of our surrounding. Casual strolls

appealing aroma of freshly brewed coffee and scrumptious pastdes. Museum excursbns

Weekly visits from th8 local primary school sparked unbridled enthusiasm and tog8themes5.

During Christmas. the childrgn's wrsonalised card5 filled our hearts with love and unity.

The centre has 62 pemanent care staff and 6 bank members of staff. In 8ddltSon, we hBve
tho management and administratlve staff as well as personnel for maintenance.
We h8ve put a lot of ra$ources into improvlng the recruitmonl process although we encounter
many challenges, we manage to biwig on board good and committgd staff. The Charfty is
looklng Into varfous b8neffts package In order to retaln thesè staff.

Durfng 2023 we have had 21 ￿8vets and we have employ8d 28 new members of staff. Thg
home's biggest challenge is recruiting, and the home struggled specially with finding senior
staff al the end of the year.

special days a5 possible and this year we celebTated Valentine's Day. Sl Patrick's Day, St
Gèoryg's day, the Queen's Piab'num Jubllee, Harvest Festival. and of Goursg Halloween.
Durfng 2023 our rasidents have enjoyed our beautiful gèrdens wth the rather ex¢8ptional
wgather we had during spring and the summer months. We bst count of the picnio lunches
we held. 8nd we were all involved. staff, our residen15 and our sisters. The picTrlc lunch
became a regular èvent. and they were super days and all so enjoyed.
At Christrnas wo hdd a Carol Concert with our 51s18rs and management team sirying their
hearts out once again to everyone's favourila carols and we all went on lo enjoy a dglioous

Friends of Foothehgy
We are lucky enough to a have 8 marvellous group ofvolunt8ers called Friends of Footherby.
'Friends' has its own committe8 WFth approxlmalely 152 members. They organlse and run our
annual summr fete our biggest fvnd raiser. they also raise money by holding raffl88 8t
Christmas, Easter and other tlmes during the year.
Wrth the funds raised from the90 events Friends org8nise and buy anything our reshjents
requir&, for 8xamplo', larger it8ms lik8 Pergolas in the grounds. This gxtsnds to Sfnaller items
like Indlvldual Christrnas and blrthday gKts, Easter eggs too for all our residents. Fri8nds 8180
organise and fund many of the concerts we hold here at Foolherfey, and they pay for our
oulings and fund tr8nsport costs.

Two of the UK Care Homes have marvellous supporters known as "Frfends of Footherfey
Hall. and 'Friends of Sl Augusline's". Those support groups are both thoroughly hands ¢

residents.
If money is donated to the Care Home for a specrfic asset or ilgm of expondilure from Th8
Friènds or olherwse the charlty vlll ensure it is used for that purpose. The UK Care Homes
do little if any proa¢live $8W-fundraising but do regul8rty rece￿8 grfts {largety from appreci8tive
rglalive8} and the occaslonal legacy.
Employèes in the UK Care Homes are engaged in fundraising for the mlsslon In Affica. Such
fundraising has trfftn, and is, enwuraged by the Sislers without plaGing undue pressure on

mission.. families and friend8 however may be engaged by the publidty In the Home or by staff
