1.19|KJV Community Children's Choir is a free,
non-auditioned, Saturday morning
community choir for children in school years
2 to 6. For our teenage groups (school years
7 to 13) there is a small termly fee which is
waived for children in receipt of free school
meals. KJV reaches out to engage children
of all backgrounds, including those that do
not have the opportunity to join a choir at
school, and teaches them to sing to a high
standard of musicality. By arranging
concerts in high-prestige venues, such as
King’s College Chapel and West Road
Concert Hall, we aim to give children
confidence that they can work to achieve
something exciting and of value, while
improving their overall musical education.
The choir has a conductor, an accompanist,
an assistant teacher and an administrator.|

whole.|Para 1.20|This is our third year as the new Charitable
Incorporated Organisation, but the 17th year
since the formation of the original King’s
Junior Voices. Over that time, we have held
concerts in West Road Concert Hall,
King’s College Chapel, Trinity College,
Ely Cathedral, Wolfson College and the
Cambridge Corn Exchange, and made a
number of CDs.
Our guests have included many primary
school choirs, Prime Brass, Junior Prime
Brass, BBC Girl Chorister of the Year, the
Young Voices of Melbourne, violinist Ergene
Kahng, flautist Adrienne Jackson, The New
Cambridge Singers, the choristers from
King’s College Choir, The Ely Imps and
Cantate.
Past concerts have included The Robins
singing at a gala at Trinity College which
raised £1.5 million towards a children’s
hospital for the East of England, fundraising
for Macmillan Cancer Support, and East
Anglia Children’s Hospice with Cambridge
Rotary, and performing with the Cambridge
Philharmonic Orchestra. Other highlights
over have included participating in the 2013
Britten Centenary for Aldeburgh Music which
was live streamed to schools across the
county, and singing with the King’s Singers
and on Classic FM.
This financial year saw the continued growth
of our new group, The Chameleons (a
cambiata choir for adolescent boys with
changing voices, helping boys to continue
singing during this vocal transition), and the
launch of our new Youth Choir for SATB
singers in years 10-13.
