Friends of Hazlewood PTFA Financial Accounts for Year Ending 31 March 2023
Friends of Hazlewood PTFA Treasurers Report APE 31 March 2023.
When formed as a charity we took on the cash and bank balances from the previous PTFA structure establishing a new bank account as well as implementing more stringent controls in our record keeping.
We started the year with Cash in hand and at bank of £2,657.19 (2022 – N/A)
Throughout the year we have learned some of the best ways to support our school community through fundraising. A snapshot of some of the events and profits attributed to them is presented below.
| Event | Proft |
|---|---|
| Jubilee Fayre | £948.91 |
| Marvellous Men | £236.01 |
| Halloween Disco | £371.42 |
| Christmas Fayre | £527.26 |
| Race Night | £1,528.19 |
| Smartes(spare change) | £244.89 |
| Easter Disco | £246.44 |
We thank all of the parents, carers friends and family of children at the school for their support across all of our activities.
We are now set up as a charity and this has allowed Friends of Hazlewood PTFA to explore new income streams. Because of our new status we were able to apply for a £500 grant from the Sir James Knott Trust which was used to celebrate the Jubilee Fayre. We were also able to open up an income stream through Amazon Smile, whereby Amazon would donate 0.5% of all purchases made by subscribers towards the PTFA. Unfortunately for the PTFA, Amazon withdrew this service throughout the UK in February 2023.
Expenditure
The majority of expenditure has been on hosting events with a view that these events will raise more income. We have also agreed to contribute £100 to each class. This often funds school trips in whole or in part.
| Income Expenditure Proft |
£8,239.96 (£5,448.98) |
|---|---|
| £2,790.98 |
The closing balance of cash and bank was £5,448.87
Forward Look
We want to fund larger items for the school and it is our desire to work with the schools to fund cooking equipment and a new bike shed.
In order to support the school we feel we need to maintain a bank balance of £2,500. Any excess therefore can be considered in meeting the needs of the equipment the school has requested.
New income streams are now being implemented. Due to the withdrawal of the Amazon Smile service we explored alternatives. Easy Fundraising offer a similar service whereby a donation will be made from online purchases to the PTFA. We encourage all teachers, parents, carers, family and friends to download the app to their phones, enable the browser widget and support Friends of Hazlewood PTFA.
We have installed a clothes bank at the school and welcome donations from the whole community. Each full clothes bank will generate income from the school.
