WOMEN FOR WOMEN EMPOWERMENT Annual Report 2023/2024
Women Empower Women
Introducton
Women 4 Women Empowerment (W4WE) is an organization that supports women in Southeast London (Southwark). This organisation was aimed to support women from Black and Ethnic Minority groups experiencing Mental Health problems but owing to cultural and other barriers are reluctant or unwilling to access mainstream support. However, during the interaction that we had with our beneficiaries, we discovered that instead of focusing only on dealing with mental health, we can make deeper and wider impact if we also look at the factors that lead women to having mental health issues in the first place. Our breakthrough came in December 2022 when we partnered with two other voluntary organisations (Active Children Youth Centre and Prince of Peace Ministry), upon which we decided to embark in supporting women through the distribution of Toiletries and Sanitary pads. In 2023, we also partnered with Beauty Banks. This partnership allows us to expand our Hygiene Bank programme called ‘‘Women 4 Women Hygiene Bank.’’ However, Women 4 Women Hygiene Bank supports the homeless and unemployed breastfeeding women who live in Southwark to maintain their dignity and good hygiene.
Message from the Chair of Trustees
Welcome to Women 4 Women Empowerment’s Annual Report 2023-2024. As a registered organisation, we were able to collaborate with other organisations as we saw the importance of working together. This method also provided us the opportunities to enrol on series of training sessions, attend conferences and meetings. The skills that our staff obtained enabled us to provide high standard of services to our beneficiaries within the community. We were also able to join the UN Portal for voluntary organisations, which gave us access to a lot of materials, resources, networking opportunities, and provided us with series of training sessions
and some of these include, ‘Understanding Strategic Collaboration, Adding Value through People: Human Resources,’ among others.
I am delighted to report that we are also a member of the Community Southwark. Community Southwark has enabled us to discover other organisations that are doing excellent work within the health and wellbeing sector. I am equally delighted to report that we are also partnering with Mentor Net organisation to support women who lack confidence and self-esteem to be able to recover and build them through peer-to-peer mentorship schemes. We aim to maximise and put into good use of these collaborations and partnerships that we have established during our first year of operation in the coming years. Our organisation recognises and appreciates the importance of collaboration for the interest of our beneficiaries. We look forward to be Woking closely with other organisations for a better outcome.
Our Vision
Women 4 Women Empowerment’s vision is to see that women in deprived communities are socially and economically empowered and active and making valuable contributions within their communities and in the wider society. In the next three years, we want to see an increasing number of women engage in community development work geared towards their social and economic independence.
Our Mission
Women 4 Women Empowerment’s mission is to empower women through vocational and skills training programmes and assist them in monetising their domestic skills.
Our Impact
As a newly established organisation designed to support and empower women, our opportunity to make positive impact through the distribution of toiletries and sanitary pads to homeless and unemployed women help to keep their dignity and maintain good hygiene.
Community engagement/Actvites:
The high costs of living have put enormous pressure on homeless women and unemployed breastfeeding women to adequately maintain good hygiene. Due to the intervention of W4WE, we were able to help 298 women who are really struggling to keep up with their hygiene from 2023-2024. This has been an ongoing project in ensuring that our beneficiaries continue to adequately maintain their hygiene. We were also able to refer 310 beneficiaries to Southwark Council to help them with the costs of living.

Our Future Plans:
-
We would like to expand our hygiene distributions in Southwark and beyond.
-
We intend to do more partnership with another hygiene organisations.
-
Regarding the Mental health section, we would like to deliver some workshops to address the underlining factors that lead to mental health.
-
We would encourage women to speak out if they think that they have been abused and intimidated. Empowering a woman means that we have empowered others.
