Objectives & Activities

As a charity organisation we are keen to help our community in every possible way to achieve peace and happiness through the love of Jesus. We strictly follow the doctrines and principles of Apostolic Christianity.

We conduct outreach ministries, where we offer one to one prayer and support to anyone in need. Fundraising events to support the homeless and underprivileged in and around our town.

Counselling and Empowerment meetings for the youths in the community, to guide and direct them. We also support many churches and orphanages in India by sending clothes and by proving food and school essentials for school children.

Overall, our charity organisation helps us to advance the aura of Christian Religion in accordance with the Statement of faith, to relieve sickness and financial hardship and to advance education throughout the world as the trustees may see fit from time to time.

Achievements & Performance

WORSHIP

Psalm 100:9 - Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

Bristol Pentecostal church worship services are held every Sunday at Kingsholm Church from 3pm-5pm. On the first Sunday of every month the lord's table is held in remembrance of the suffering and sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our Malayalam service is led by Pr. Saji Samuel and in his absence associate Pr. Ajay Koshy John.

INTERCESSORY PRAYERS

On every Wednesday and Saturday 7 pm -9 pm we gather as a congregation via zoom. We pray together for many different issues and requests. This includes those who are sick or unwell, different countries especially where there is no freedom of religion, for new people of all races to join, those who are persecuted for their faith, the UK in which we are living, relatives that have not yet come to the faith, also our local community and city of Bristol. We as a church have been able to see God's work through our prayers and I take this time to thank all of you who were involved in earnestly praying, participating, and leading this meeting.

Bristol Pentecostal Church Trustees' Annual Report for the Period Ended 31 March 2023

FASTING PRAYER

The first Saturday of every month we hold our fasting prayer in two sessions, one in the morning beginning at 10:30am to 12:30pm and one in the evening at 6pm to 8pm. On certain occasions we received word from visiting Pastors and pastors online via zoom.

SUNDAY SCHOO L

Proverbs 22:6- Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Children are God’s gift to us and therefore we should educate them about what God has done for us and what the scripture says. Sunday School is arranged every Sunday at 2pm-3pm except the first Sunday of the month. There are a total of 16 children currently in the Sunday school split into 3 classes.

SISTERS MEETING

The Sisters of the Bristol Pentecostal Church hold their meeting on the third week of every month. They pray sincerely for many issues and requests that are placed in their hearts. This prayer is a pillar for our church, and we have seen God's work being fulfilled through them and their prayers. God bless you all for the effort you provide for fasting and prayer.

YOUTH EVENT

Timothy 4:12- Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

Bristol Pentecostal Church’ Youth event takes place on the last Sunday of each month. In this session the youths but also adults are encouraged to exhibit their God-given talents such as reciting Bible chapters, singing and speaking from the word of God. In 2022 Sr. Deborah Mathew and Sr. Gladis Thomas were Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator respectively. This year in 2023 Sr. Sherin Robin and Sr. Susan Nixon were Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator.

BAPTISM CLASS AND BAPTISM

Galatians 3:27- for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

Over these years we had the privilege of once again organising a baptism class on 26[th] October 2022 to encourage our youth that were waiting to be baptised and those who accepted Christ as their personal saviour. The class was online via zoom and Pr. Thomas Samuel ministered in this class. He highlighted the importance of this command, and this class was very beneficial.

ANNUAL FASTING PRAYER

We were able to conduct an Annual Fasting Prayer, but this time in Kingsholm Church. It was on 26[th] to 28[th] October 2023 (3 day) with an evening section for Thursday and Friday. Saturday had both a morning and evening section. Pr. Joby Varghese and Pr. Varghese Chacko spoke to us over the days.

BIBLE STUDY

Revelation 1:3- Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.

Bristol Pentecostal Church

Trustees' Annual Report for the Period Ended 31 March 2023

Our bible study was held on October 28[th] and 29th of 2022 through an online platform due to the situation. It was held over a 2-day period and the guest pastor was Pr. Jose Abraham (India). On the first day the bible study was from the book of Colossians (Ch.4:12) about being complete in the will of God. The second was about living in Christ, Romas (Ch.6:1-8). It was a blessed time as we got to once again strengthened our faith with the word.

LOCAL CHARITY

Proverbs 19:17 -Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done.

Over the years once again we have been able to support our local charities in Bristol. We know that due to the cost-of-living crisis many people are still struggling with their everyday lives around us. We have donated a total of £500 in 2022 and £1000 in 2023.

TRACT DISTRIBUTION

Mark 16:15 -And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”

God enabled us this year to distribute tracts to our local community. I especially want to thank Br. Bipin Varghese for his work in taking the lead with this ministry. I also want to thank all who participated and helped to spread the word of God, may his blessings be upon you.

CHURCH OUTING

Many activities were organised and was truly a time to get to know each other and eat plenty.

In 2023 we stayed closer to home and went to Hebron Hall near Cardiff for another 3 day trip from 28[th ] to 30[th] august 2023. Once again, we were able to organise a blessed time for both Kids and Adults, getting to know each other and enjoying a change of surroundings. Various activities were planned, and everyone participated and had a good time.

FAMILY SEMINAR

On the 15[th] of July 2023 we conducted a family seminar where the guest pastor, Pr. John George told us about the importance of living in a Christian family and having Christ be the head. I thank the pastor from Rajasthan for speaking to us and all who attended.

ONE DAY VBS

For the first time God enabled us to organise a meeting centred around the children and for them to learn the word and worship God. We were able to invite children from our local areas. Thank you all for participating and helping this VBS to be successful, especially the children, volunteers, Sunday School teachers and youth coordinators.

COMBINED MEETING WITH COG

Bristol Pentecostal Church combined with COG UK, this blessed meeting was conducted on May 20[th] , 2023, in Kingsholm Church with COG Overseer Pr. Joe Kurian as guest speaker.

CHURCHES TOGETHER

We were able to conduct an open-air meeting in our local community of Southmead together with

Bristol Pentecostal Church

Trustees' Annual Report for the Period Ended 31 March 2023

Kingsholm Church once each year. We shared the gospel as well as sang songs of praise. We also handed out tracts to the public. Thank you to Kingsholm Church and its leaders for inviting and organising these meetings as well as all who attended and prayed. Let us continually pray for our community and conduct more of these blessed meetings.

ANNIVERSARY OF SUNDAY SCHOOL, YOUTH AND SISTERS PRAYER GROUP

As in previous years, we were able to celebrate the Sunday school, Youth and Sister’s Anniversary in both 2022 and 2023. They were both joyous meetings. In 2022 we had as guest pastor Pr. Blessen Thomas, the Sunday School Director of COG. Everyone participated in various programmes and made it an enjoyable day. In 2023 once again we conducted a day to remember. Many entertaining songs, skits and programmes were performed, and the guest pastor was Pr. Sibin Kurian. He expressed to us that we should enlarge our territories and have a vision for our church’s future Prizes and gifts for Sunday School Students and youth programme winners were distributed in both years.

CONCLUSION

Jeremiah 29:11- For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

In the past two years, through God's grace, we have achieved significant milestones as a congregation. I want to express my sincere thanks to every individual in our midst for your unwavering support, be it through prayers, dedicated efforts, or financial contributions. It is your collective commitment that has brought forth the blessings and success we've experienced. A special appreciation goes to the Leaders of Kingsholm Church for generously allowing us to worship in their sacred space. Your hospitality has played a crucial role in our spiritual growth, and we are truly grateful. I also acknowledge and thank the Church Council members for their diligent work in governing and guiding our congregation. Your leadership has been important in shaping the course of our church, and we pray for God's continued blessings on your efforts. Moving forward, let us stay united in every aspect and decision we make. The strength of our unity will contribute to the ongoing fellowship and love within our church, bearing fruits that reflect the kingdom of God on earth.

Our journey so far has been guided by the hand of the Lord, and I am confident that He will continue to lead us in the future. Let us give thanks to God and offer Him all the glory, honour, and praise for the wonderful achievements and blessings we have experienced as a church community.

Future Developments

The church intends to continue to host its regular conferences in the UK and will continue to hold their regular Sunday services, their Sunday school for children aged from 3 to 16 years old, their youth and ladies' events and their outreach programmes. The charity is looking for a permanent place for the events. The charity will be focusing on church planting, starting mission oriented academic institution, charity events and upskilling events for youths and vulnerable residents in the community.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT

FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 March 2023

We report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31[st] March 2023.

Respective responsibilities of Trustees and Examiner:

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 43(2) of the Charities Act 1993 (the Act) and that an independent examination is needed.

Itis our responsibility to examine the accounts (under section 43(3)(a) of the 1993 Act), to follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners (under section 43(7)(b) of the Act), and to state whether particular matters have come to our attention.

Basis of independent examiner’s report:

Our examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items of disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from the Trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statements below.

Independent examiner’s statement:

In connection with our examination, no matter has come to our attention:

which gives us reasonable cause to believe that, in any material aspect, the requirements to keep accounting records in accordance with section 41 of the 1993 Act; and to prepare accounts which record with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting records of the 1193 Act have not been met; or to which, in our opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

The principal accounting policies adopted by the Charity, which is a public benefit entity, in the preparation of the accounts are as follows.

1.2 Basis of preparation

These accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention, as modified by the inclusion of charitable properties and fixed asset investments and investment properties at valuation.

These accounts have been prepared in accordance with “Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)” (effective 1 January 2019) - (Charities SORP (FRS 102)), the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) and the Charities Act 2011. These accounts are presented in pounds sterling and rounded to the nearest pound.

1.3 Going concern

The Trustees have prepared financial projections, taking into consideration the current economic conditions and have, at the time of approving these accounts, a reasonable expectation that the charity has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. Thus they continue to adopt the going concern basis of accounting in preparing the accounts.
