We do this by.
providing a safe 5P£ice where anyone can create tlieir own art or experien
crealivily by some other means in their owri tsme,
by guiding people through the exploration of their creativity led by qualified
artists. In the beginning by free drop-ln sessions and progressing to plan￿ed
workshop programmes and.,

regeneration of the local area.
Free services
Our basir. obje.cti¥e. 1$ to be available to meel the creative needs and development of
indivio4ual mernbers of the community. We do this by bein9 open for visitors to 'drop-

artists and FOe￿Ilty a way forwafa al their own pa￿. Although highly visible at street
level our property is Icjcated In the most deprived area of Oewsbury and footfall 15
light. Despite this we do have Interest generated mostly by our online presence an
more than 400 peoplb ha¥¥ rRpressed ari interest.
Our local council also signposts Individuals lo us when they believe we can provide
relevant support. Howeyer, the reputation around the Daisy Hill area puls many
people off visiting our location
Last year we reported on the Pfogre6s rriade by an autistic adult male due lo the

this year we have also Engaged with an adult male artist with mental health Issues
and are workinq IDwards makino Il possible for him to relurrL to productive work.
Numbers of this type of user are inevitably very low bul the availability ol a facility
such as Artists Attic wtriich Is outside the user's usual Inslilutionalised environmenl 15
Invaluable to their progress.
In our third year of operation we have a much clearer picture of what is possible and
how Artists Attic can contribute to the community. Crealilie activities are primarily
Individ ual and depend on the individu81 coming foTward and expressing their interest.
Vve musl be ￿reful lo ensure that while creative activities Can contribute lo the
welSbeing of many vulnerable people we do not become a caring service ano

Grant funded proj•cts
'Artful Expressions, is an evening art club for young children operating on Monday
evenings every week and origirtally funded by
Awards for All. This ran from Oct(>ber 23 to
July 24 but continuod to operae after funding
was exhausted t.hanks to.the genero&ily of our
contributing artists until the r.èceipt of renewed
funding from the National Lottery Community
Fund of £19,990 In February 2025.
As reported la51 year the club wa5
enthusiastically received ty the local
POPLJlation of mostly Romanian origin living in
the immediate area. H￿eyer, in late 2024 the major re$idential propety they
occupied was closed down due to safety concerns and this group was dispersed to
other areas leading to a dramatic reduction in attendance due to the travel distances
involvetl. We are wi)rking lo rebuild the attendance with a more diverse demographic.
Holiday Activity ¢lubs- during school holidays.
The Holiday Activity Clubs durins
school holidays are grant funded by
the 9ov.ernment through the local
council and are intended lo engage
childr.en durin9 the 5chtxII holidays
and partlGularly.lo ensure that they
receive a hot meal during the day.
Although we created such clubs
during the Easter and summer
holid3ys Ihe105s of children from the
local community made It difficult to fill
even the ten available $1015. With only
ten p'laces allocated th15 is only just
enough tO.Gover co$16 and we will be
rev, iewing whether we are able to continue lo provide this service.
Sustsinability
The Iruslees are conscious of the need to become More resilient by developing our
own sources of income. To this end the home paGe of our website shows the range
of paid wgrkshops,Ihal we offer in order lo generate unrestrided income. Take up to
dale ha5 been slow, again inff uenced, we are told. by the physical location of the
premises. Several artists making use of OLJr facilities regularly make donations as a
contribution to overheads.
