ADMINIsfRATIVE INFORMATION
Swindon Llons CIO was registered with charity number 1198482 on 31 March 2022
and on 8 September 2022 it ￿CeIved funds from charity number 1160202
(SWINDON LIONS CLUB CHAR￿ABLE TRUST FUND).
Swindon Lions CIO is part of the worfdwide organisation of The Intemational
Association of Llons Clubs. Within the multi-distrlct of Great Brltaln Swlndon Llons
operates in the Lions District 105 SC.
Swindon Lions meets twice a month at The Village Hotel, Shavi Rldge Lelsure Park,
Swindon SN5 7DW

srRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
The activities of Sbyindon Lions Club is overseen by the Trustees of the charlty.
The trustees from l July 2024 through to 30 June 2025 were:

All of the Trustees provide their services free of charge. None of the Trustees had a
material interest In any contract of significance to whlch the charity was a party
during the period.
The govemlng document of the reglstered charfty Is the charity's constitution which."
was adopted on 11 April 2022. The trustees are responslble for the financial
adminlstratlon of the Club.
The trustees meet twice a month after the club meetings votlng on all club
expendlture: thelr declslons are guided by the wishes of members. The trustees
also meet to discuss other matters affecting the dub as required: all discussions at
such meetings are ￿ported back to dub members at dub meetings.
Trustees senie for a maximum of four years, retire by rotatlon and are eligible ft)r
-election. The Trustees are assisted in the administration of the Club by
committees establlshed for Welfare and Servlce; Actrvities (fundralslng). Fireworks
(fundraising); Membership; and Social.
The club has policies for the following:
Chlld protertion and vulnerable persons;
Complaints.
Conflitt of interest.
Data protection.
Finance;
Grant making;
Risk management;
Volunteer.
OBJECrnIES AND ACTIVMES
The objerts of the club are such purposes as are exclusively charitsble in England &
Wales induding in particular.
the advancement of citizenship by promoting the principles of good
citizenship; encouraging members to take an active interest in the avic, culturdl,
social and mordl welfare of the community. providing a forum for the open
discussion of all matters of public interest. provided that partisan politics and

sectarian religion shall not be debated by members. encouraging ServI￿-m1nded
people to senie their community without personal reward and encouraging the
promotion of high ethical standards in commerce, industry, professions, public
works and prlvate endeavours; supporting youth to develop their skills, capacities
and capabilities to enable them to partldpate in ￿Kiety as mature and responslble
indlviduals;
promoting the voluntary sector for the public benefit by associating wlth local
authorlties in a common effort to advance education and pmvide facilities In the
Interests of social welfare for recreatlon or other leisu￿ tlme occupation to Improve
the conditions of life of people in local, national and international communities"
promotlng volunteering;
the relief of poverty and the relief of those in need in particular by providing

REVIEW OF AcrIvmES AND ACHIEVEMENTS
Summary of the main activities in relation to those purposes for the publlc benefit,
in particular, the activitiesi projects or seryices identified in the accounts.
Swindon Lions Club raises significant funds throughout the year from its fundraising
activities. Some of the activities raise money for specific organisations that we
conslder wlll benefit from a substantlal contrlbutlon to thelr funds. The general
funds that the Club raises through other fundraising activities are used to provide
grants to deserving causes and individuals within Swindon and the surrounding
areas, supporting appeals from Lions, Districts, Multi District, Lions Clubs
Intemational and Lions Clubs International Foundation.

Examples of fundraising activities indude:
November 2024 the club organlsed a suc￿Ssful Ftreworks event to rBise
general funds for the club.
De￿mber 2024 the club had collections outside local supermarkets wlth a
Santa and an inflatable house and the income was split between the general
fund and the Prospect Hospi￿.
Aprll 2025 the club held Easter collertlons outslde a local supermarket and
also held Easter egg raffles in local pubs and the funds ralsed were spllt
between the National Society for the p￿VentiOn of Cruelty to Chlldren and
Swindon Young Carers.
Advancement of citizenship: club members and their families took part in the
followlng community events.. The Wroughton Carnlval parade and fete and the
Christmas fair at Christ Church, Swindon. Attending these events demonstrates
both the club's support for the community organisation and raises funds for the
club. Swindon Uons sponsored a communlty art project in Royal Wootton Bassett.
A member of the club attends the annual Remembrance Ce￿MonY at Swindon's
Cenotaph and lays a wreath. The dub contlnued with the distribution of bottles for
the "Message in a Bottle" scheme which provides crucial information on any
Indlvldual to the Emergency serrfl￿S when they a￿ called to attend the individual
at their home.
The Club sponsors a secondary school to take part in the Lions peace poster
competition. The competition Is open to students age 11, 12, 13 and 14 and
creating peace posters gives children the chance to express their visions of peace
and Insplre the world through art and creatlvlty. We also sponsored two local
primary schools to tske part In the Uons 'ROAR' schools programme. The 'ROAR'
competition is an inspirational and fun leaming experlence for children aged 7 to 11,
encouraging their imagination to create and present 'world changing ideas,. It helps
them to 'think big and dream big. The scheme is run in collat>oration with the
award-winning education company '8billionideas'.
Promoting the voluntary sector for the public benefit: grants were given to Amiy
Cadets and at a more individual level we continue to sponsor young leader in
service awards.

The relief of poverty and the relief of those in need - Swindon Lions has supported
local charltable organisations such as Alternative Angels. the Food Collectlve and
Christmas Care by awarding them gTrnts. It held a collection for the BBC'S Children
In Need. It has provlded funds for dlsaster rellef through Uons Clubs Internatlonal
Foundation and to Southport Lions to enable them to support the community
following the stabbings in their town. Members of the Club have also helped to load
lorries with humanitarian aid for the Ukrdine as well as wrdpping Christmas presents
ft>r orphans in the Ukraine.
The Club assists wlth the advancement of health by helping with collettions in aid of
Marie Curie Cancer Care. The dub made a substantial donation to West Swindon
Parish Council for a defibrillator and bleed klts, as well as Klds Cancer Charity and
Open Door. Swindon Lions promoted World Sight Day via social media and issuing
press releases,
Promoting for the benefit of the public the conservation protertion and impmvement
of the physical and natural environment. The club continues to promote recycling
by collecting spettacles. hearing alds. mobile phones and stamps for recycllng as
well as donating used tools to the charity Tools for Self Relian￿ . The club gave
sets of books to two primary schools of Wild Tribe Hen)es - which teach children
about envlronmental Issues,
Promotlng communlty partlclpatlon In healthy recreatlon by: making a donation to
Beechwood School for equipment for their outdoor play area. sponsoring Swindon
Dance Academy so they were able to participate in the Dance World Cupi helping at
the Bob Cook Games - a sports event for disabled people" and playing tenpin
matches with Swindon's local club for the visually impaired.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
General summary: Fundralsing actlvltles during the year again comprised the annual
Fireworks Display, Christmas and Easter supermar*et bucket collections and
attendance at various local camivals and summer festivals. In addition, at Easter a
lottery wlth Easter Eggs as prlzes was run in conjunction with several local publlc
houses. Profits from the Firework Display and Easter activities were above the
previous year's efft)rts, showing increases of £2240 and £378 respectively.
Christmas collertions were similar to the previous year.

Grants to local community groups and charities were like the previous year with
twenty-flve organlsatlons beneffttlng. Welfare spendlng was however lower by
about half that of the previous year. It should be noted that most welfrdre grants
are generated by requests from local authortty officers e.g. resettlement and social ..
services. Grants in support of various youth projects We￿ treble the previous year
l.e. £3028 as against £914.
Overall, the total funds available to the Club showed an increase of £834 in the
period to 30th June 2025, i.e. from £38,211 to £39,045.

CC16a submission.
Unrestritted funds: The General Fund is used for the normal running costs of the
Club.
The General Fund balance at 30 June 2025 represents nine months of the budgeted
2025-26 expenditure.
Restricted funds: At the commencement of the period two funds were deemed to be
restrlcted, l.e. the Supporter's aub, the French twlnnlng fund, and the Members
fund. Additionally funds collected in year for specific charities a￿ shown as income
and expendlture in the restricted funds.
2025-26: NO significant changes are anticipated for 2025-26.
It should, however, be noted that a contingency fund is maintained to cover possible
losses on the Firework Display due to bad weather affecting the event. Trustees
have in hand an amount equal to at least the fixed costs of the Fireworks display as
°free" reserves, to meet future shortfalls In income.
