Trustees’ Annual Report

Aim and Purposes

Relevant Church is a community church committed to serving Kennington community and its immediate surroundings, sharing the love of God. We exit to help people experience the love of God in everyday life.

Objectives and Activities

The object of Relevant Church is the advancement of the Christian faith by providing worship, prayer, Christian teaching and community services. We meet weekly for fellowship and worship with talks from different speakers. We offer pastoral care for people in the area. With other local partners and charity organisations, we offer monthly family/emergency grant to local families in need.

The trustees maintain overview of activities throughout the year and make suggestions on how the church activities can improve, involve and benefit wider local residents.

Achievement and Performance

Worship and Prayer

The church continues to host weekly gathering for worship and prayers where local residents are welcome. We continue to offer community services that our community can find beneficial and spiritually fulfilling.

Back to School Project

For the last six years, Relevant Church has been donating school uniforms, school suppliers to local primary schools within Kennington and wider Ashford, Kent every September at the beginning of the academic year. This year, five primary schools benefitted from the donations.

Christmas Giveaway

In December 2024, Relevant Church donated a total amount of five hundred pounds to two local charities and an elderly nursing home as part of our Christmas giveaway extending the love and spirit of the season

Volunteers

We would like to thank all our volunteers who work so hard every week to ensure we are able to meet as a church family. We applaud your dedication and commitment to the vision and mission of the church.

Structure, Governance and Management

The method of appointment of the Charity Trustees is set out in the CIO constitution. In selecting individuals for appointment as Charity Trustees, the Spiritual Leadership must have regard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO. All Charity Trustees must subscribe and adhere to, in belief and lifestyle, the Statement of Faith.

The spiritual governance and leadership of the Church Fellowship for the purposes of which the CIO has been established shall remain with the Spiritual Leadership and to the extent to which the Charity Trustees are not synonymous with the Spiritual Leadership their powers shall be confined to the proper management and administration of the CIO in accordance with the provisions of this Constitution and in furtherance of the Objects and in so doing they shall have full and proper regard to the Spiritual Leadership provided always that they shall not act outside their powers as conferred by this Constitution and by general law.

The Charity Trustees must hold at least two meetings each calendar year.

Financial Review

The total receipts from the reporting period January 2024 – December 2024 was £14,580 and total expenditure was £14,369.43 with a total surplus of £210.57. This has been added to the surplus (from previous years) held in the church bank account.

Given the third year operating as a registered charity, we project an increase of 10% in the next financial year.

Administrative Information

Relevant Church Ashford is situated in Kennington Ashford, Kent. We currently hold our weekly meeting/gathering at Kennington Women Institute, 228 Faversham Road, Kennington Ashford
