, the charity was able to combine
the wisdom of established industry experts
with the energy and fresh ideas of a new
generation of sport coaching academics as
speakers. To a full house audience, key
topics for discussion included a call for brave
and disruptive thinking in the work of CRiC
and the academic journal, Sports Coaching
Review by Dr Bill Taylor; Professor Robyn
Jones presented a challenge for more
critical coaching research; a critical
examination of the Whyte Report was
provided by Dr Anna Stodter, Dr Melanie
Lang, Bobby Crutchley and Dr Alexandra
Consterdine; Dr Charles Corsby and Dr
Edward Hall hosted an interactive seminar
aimed at post graduate students and early
career academics to support the publication
of research in academic journals; Dr Don
Vinson hosted a conversation concerning
research proposals to encourage critical
feedback and collaborative working; and a
conversation on the impact and influence of
research on practice between Dr Laura
Gale, Professor Chris Cushion and Dr
Lauren Downham who demonstrated
opportunities for narrowing the researcher-
practitioner gap to assist in enhancing coach
