During the reporting period, the trustees continued fundraising and established a partnership with ‘Ellilta Woman At Risk’ a local organisation in Ethiopia to carry out the charity’s objectives. Funds sent to Ellilta Woman At Risk (£3,157) support woman through their rehabilitation programme. The rehabilitation programme is designed to provide comprehensive psychosocial support, structured into two key phases for optimal recovery and empowerment. Phase 1: Psychological and Emotional Restoration In the initial phase, the focus is on psychological healing and emotional restoration. Women will engage in a variety of activities aimed at personal growth and recovery. This phase takes place over a five-day week, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, at a rehabilitation centre. Activities included counselling, educational sessions, and in- house skill-building exercises to foster mental well-being and resilience. Phase 2: Vocational Training and Job Readiness Once women had made progress in the first phase, the focus shifts to vocational training. Para 1.20 | The charity raised £15,339.78 exceeding target. The money will be sent to Ellilta Woman At Risk to help to support woman through their rehabilitation programme. The women in the programme ranged in age from 26 to 32 years, with 72% of them having one or more child. Initially, 85% of the women were struggling with addiction to alcohol, chat (a stimulant), and cigarettes. After six months of intensive therapy, this percentage significantly decreased to 30%. The reduction in addiction rates not only improved the lives of the women themselves but also positively impacted their children and families. The next phase moves to vociational training / job placement. This phase of the program demonstrates both the challenges and success of the rehabilitation journey, highlighting the critical need for continued support to ensure long-term recovery. Moving forward, Ellilta will focus on providing sustained assistance to the women who have successfully transitioned into employment, while also reaching out to those who dropped out or returned to prostitution to offer them further guidance and support. The ultimate goal is to equip all participants with the tools and resources necessary to build a stable and fulfilling future, free from the hardships of their past. |

Para 1.25 | Appointment of charity trustees (1) Apart from the first charity trustees, every trustee must be appointed for a term of 3 years by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the charity trustees. (2) In selecting individuals for appointment as charity trustees, the charity trustees must have regard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO. Retirement and removal of charity trustees (1) A charity trustee ceases to hold office if he or she: (a) retires by notifying the CIO in writing (but only if enough charity trustees will remain in office when the notice of resignation takes effect to form a quorum for meetings); (b) is absent without the permission of the charity trustees from all their meetings held within a period of six months and the trustees resolve that his or her office be vacated; (c) dies; (d) in the written opinion, given to the |
company, of a registered medical practitioner treating that person, has become physically or mentally incapable of acting as a director and may remain so for more than three months; (e) is disqualified from acting as a charity trustee by virtue of sections 178-180 of the Charities Act 2011 (or any statutory reenactment or modification of that provision). (2) Any person retiring as a charity trustee is eligible for reappointment. 3) A charity trustee who has served for three consecutive terms may not be reappointed for a fourth consecutive term but may be reappointed if this is voted for by the other trustees. Taking of decisions by charity trustees Any decision may be taken either: • at a meeting of the charity trustees; or • by resolution in writing or electronic form agreed by a majority of all of the charity trustees, which may comprise either a single document or several documents containing the text of the resolution in like form to which the majority of all of the charity trustees has signified their agreement. Such a resolution shall be effective provided that • a copy of the proposed resolution has been sent, at or as near as reasonably practicable to the same time, to all of the charity trustees; and • the majority of all of the charity trustees has signified agreement to the resolution in a document or documents which has or have been authenticated by their signature, by a statement of their identity accompanying the document or documents, or in such other manner as the charity trustees have previously resolved, and delivered to the CIO at its principal office or such other place as the trustees may resolve within 28 days of the circulation date.
