The objects of the charlly are the rellef oy poverty in Wesl Africa, in particular but not exclusivdy i
Aro¢hukwu. Nigeria, by prowding fundlng to cover school fees and school ilgms such as uniform and
books for pupi15 in economlcally dl$advantaged ￿MMunities. By impromng acces5 to education,
ongoing mentoring and safeguarding support w8 provid& hope and aim lo divert children from
povarty, exploitation and possible gang life.
Slructure, governance and management
The charlly Is a Charitable Incorporated Organlsatlon. charlty number 1198382, and was r8gistered
with the Charity Cammlsslon of England and Wales on 25 March 2022. Thé only vollng members are
Ihe charity Iruslees, and the Conslltutton is the goveming document.
The InJ81ees 8re selected on the basls of skill, experience. and passion for the mlsslon 01 th& chadty.
The ch81r, Charfes Uwakaneme, assesses tt)0 suilabilily of the ¢andldales, undertakes ludlclous
consultations, agrees the liming and rol& with th6 ¢andidal8 before Ihe appointment by the sitting

and community leaders in helping wlh the holistic d8velopment and safeguarding of our pupi15. Wo
follow their progress encourage each chil(S lo complete their individual education joumey and lo
progress to their chosen careers, supported by UCEP Whe￿ needed and where possible. We
measure outcomes lo help us progressively achieve our aim of developng exemplary beacons of

The following projects were undertaken,.
In the first 3 years of operati(m, we have put neady 100 children from disadvantaged familie5 in
school in 3 village clustgrs,
We have sel up an 8ff8ctiva mentorship atxl safeguarding program lo ènsure that the children
stay in school and Sre able to cope with the challenging environments they relum to after school.
We are engaging parents, teacher3 and elders in lh8 saleguarding of 8nd development of our
children.
The UCEP Project has dellvered measurablé and meaningful improvements In earty childho¢)J
education outcomes across mu￿.ple class Ièvgls from 2021r2022 10 202412025 academlc
sessions. Data collected and analysed for thrge academic sessions from Nursery through
Primary clas885 demonstrate consistent year-on-yeor progress in critical developmental
Indl¢ator8, dlrectly reflecting th8 success of the interventions supported by UCEP donor funding.
As the program grew, we continued to assemble our taam of Ilke-mlnded, dedlcated, volunteers
in the UK, US and Nigena. We have recnjiled and induclgd over 50 volunteer5 In six 18ams.
induding 8 UCEP Truste•$ and 7 UCEF Tru818e8.
The teams cover 8uch dlsciplin88 as FInance￿ega1, EducationlOperation8, ITIAdmin,
Communlcallon, Fundraising, and Gov8manc&.
Tho racruilment and Iralnlng of our volunt88r team was accompanied by the development of
robust operating systems. processe8 and ￿ nan¢ial control mech8nlsm8 which are now in pla¢e.
In the flrsl 3 years, w6 deliberately slowed the growlh of the charity to allow us lo leam Eessons
and refine our pro¢e$sey,
We have produced an operalons manual lo facilitate future su8tainable programme rolloLrt to
many mor8 village clusters. Tha Dperalions manual d8lails the appointrnenl and Iralning of tha
ft•ld coordlnator8. chlldren sglectlon process, and many other 88pecls of our work.
Wa hav& prepared a coMpreh￿s1Ve 3-year Development Plan fc¢ the périod 2025126 10

The w51on is that we wlll foll¢)w th8 progTr38 of our UCEP scholarshlp chilaran IhroughoLrt their lender
pn'mary school days and education. With 5U51ainable funding, ¥v8 will Iheri encourag8 and support
those that are ab￿ and wlling lo 901 inl0 Secondary 8chcK)Is and Irom there lo univèrsi1188, as well as
those that will ch005e the path of 8ppronlic8ship5 onto stable careers. We intend lo replicate thè
model across more villages, Increaslng the number of children and famllies we support,
While finalising thè building of a robust organisatlon structure in the Ihlrd year, tb.e ch8rlty generated
an income 01 £15,251 from donations and legacies. Total payments W8re £6,492 for the penod,
r8sLlling in nat funds of £8,759.
All volunteers worked remoioly, and as such there were no fixed assets. Cash at bank represents the
current 8888ts of £26,023. Current liabilities represent 8ccountsn¢y fee$ due of £408

devgloFed a fundralsing $lral¢gy to seek additson81 donations and grants lo fund the growth In our
activitlg5.
