Achievements and performance
This year has been spent growing and establishing new revenue streams for the charity and looking for potential partners to gift money to. We have donated funds to Newcastle City Council Social Care Team to support bereaved children in crisis. We have also funded Christmas gifts for bereaved children and days out in the summer holidays too. In the period the income was generated from events including a Golf Day, several coffee mornings, a Tough Mudder and the Great North Run.
Financial review
The reserves policy is to hold sufficent funds to allow any grants awarded to be paid in full. Running costs are minimal, three months costs will also be kept in reserve.
Plans for future periods
We will increase online presence to communicate to our followers exactly where the funds they have raised are being used. We will hold events such as coffee mornings, a golf day in the summer, and we have again bought 25 numbers for the Great North Run, which is likely to be our biggest income generator of the period. Over the next financial period we are looking to grow our partners to donate funds to. We are working with the SEND and Social Care Departments at both Newcastle City Council and Durham County Council. We are looking to fund child therapy sessions at St Cuthbert’s Hospice (Jigsaw Project) and providing reading material and toys. Alongside Stagecoach School of Performing Arts, who are liaising with their school network, we are now offering funded drama classes to bereaved kids.
The aim this year is to access similar departments within other local councils. To find additional projects, like Jigsaw, where we can fund talking / play / art therapy. We would also like to find other private businesses to work alongside to fund activities – like we are with Stagecoach.
