Activities

WGLA seeks to advance the awareness of the contribution of the Windrush generation and their descendants. We are focused on educating and empowering people in our community and increasing the capacity to understand, lead and make uplifting contributions, through an examination of the past and present-day achievements. We engage through exhibitions, workshops and other events online and in person.

Objects: The Charity’s Objects (‘objects’) Are Specifically Restricted To The Following:1. To Advance The Education Of The Public In The History, Culture, Experiences And Contributions Of Those From The Windrush Generation;2. The Promotion Of Equality And Diversity For The Public Benefit By Advancing Education And Raising Awareness In Equality And Diversity;3. To Develop The Capacity And Skills Of And To Relieve The Needs Of Those Members Of The Windrush Generation And Their Descendants Who Experience Social And Economic Disadvantage As A Result Of Racial Discrimination In Such Ways That They Are Better Able To Identify, And Help Meet, Their Needs And To Participate More Fully In Society By Educating And Empowering People In The Community To Understand, Lead And Make Uplifting Contributions, Through An Examination Of The Past And Present-Day Achievements[nothing In The Articles Shall Authorise An Application Of The Property Of The Charity For Purposes Which Are Not Charitable In Accordance With Section 7 Of The Charities And Trustee Investment (scotland) Act 2005and/orsection 2 Of The Charities Act (northern Ireland) 2008.]
