## **Springs of Living Water Christian Centre Trustees’ Annual Report**

## **Aims and Purposes**

Springs of Living Water Christian Centre is led by Pastor Carole Haynes. The responsibility of Springs of Living Water Christian Centre is to promote and provide the Christian gospel message to the people of Ripley, Derbyshire and the surrounding area. This is shared via pastoral, social, evangelical, faith in action and healing. Sharing the compassion of Jesus Christ with the lost and broken.

We are responsible for the upkeep of the Church building and the attached Church Hall premises which is used a pre-school.

## **Objectives and Activities**

Springs of Living Water Christian Centre is committed to offering a welcoming place of worship for the people of Ripley and surrounding areas. We put faith into action by sharing the gospel message in our services through prayer, scripture, worship, music, water baptism and Healing.

When we plan our activities for the year, we are seeking the wisdom of Jesus Christ to guide us to reach the people of Ripley. We can offer activities such as: -

Worship and prayer evening

Sunday morning service

Food offered to anyone in need.

Warm Welcome space

## **Worship and Prayer**

Our mid-week prayer evening is open for the people of Ripley to come and pray and worship together. We have a focus on prayer for the local people of Ripley. Leaders of the town and public services, as well as wider in the UK and around the world. This is a time for spiritual growth and uniting in prayer for the town.

We believe the impossible is possible through prayer and therefore this is attended by 90% of our congregation.

All are welcome to our services. For people who are not able to join us in person we livestream our Sunday services and share live on Facebook.

## **Springs of Living Water Christian Centre Trustees’ Annual Report**

We have approximately 25 congregation members. As well as our x25 members we have between x100-2 150 views on our Facebook page weekly. We can reach a wider population through this media.

We welcome families to our church and offer a children’s church during our Sunday service. All our congregation who are involved in the delivery of children’s church sessions have been DBS checked.

## **The Church Building**

The lift was finally installed on 10[th] February 2023. We were able to secure the finance for the installation of a lift within the main church. As mentioned in our previous report, due to circumstances beyond our control this was postponed from April 2022 to February 2023.

Our café space was now made accessible to all.

Following the installation of the lift we were then able to open our café space as a Warm Welcome space.

- Warm Welcome space on a Friday morning.

- Craft activities were available within the space.

- It is planned to open more groups within this space such as a youth group, toddler group and stay and chat group within the next few years.

## **Church Hall**

There is an established pre-school operating from our church hall. We are hoping to link in with this provision more. We have offered therapy support for the children who are attending this provision this so far as not been taken up.

## **Pastoral Care**

## **Warm Welcome Space (Open and running March-June 2023 and October 2023March 2024)**

This is now running and open to all. We provide a warm space with free hot drinks and food for approx. 3 hours on a Friday morning. We have registered our space with the warm space campaign. We are show as live on the map so people can see we are open and available between March-June 2023 and October 2023 – March 2024. We supported the people of Ripley at this difficult financial time.

Following a visit from the environmental health we were awarded a hygiene rating of 5.

## **Springs of Living Water Christian Centre Trustees’ Annual Report**

We offer hot soup and toasties, homemade cakes and hot and cold drinks free of charge for anyone during this period of time.

We continue to link with our local MP and other agencies, along with schools within the town, to signpost families and young people to services which are available. We have linked in with other Churches, social care, schools, voluntary sectors within Ripley to share information. We continue to update this group with our services.

## **Future plans and hopes:**

## **Stay and Chat**

It is planned soon to open on a different day in our café area. This will be open to our more mature members of the town. This will be a safe space for people to come and have a drink and a chat. We hope to provide a place of sanctuary for people who may be lonely/living alone.

## **Youth Group**

We hope to open our church soon as a mid-week safe space for the youth of Ripley to attend. We will offer drinks and snacks as well as games and activities in our café.

## **Toddler Group**

We hope to offer a group for parents to bring their toddlers to enjoy a safe place where they can play and make friends, and parents can chat and meet other parents in Ripley and surrounding areas. This may be by linking in with the pre-school provision which is already operating out of our Church Hall premises.

## **Pre-school**

We have a vibrant pre-school operating from our Church Hall. They have remained with us over the last decade. We have been able to support them through the difficult period of Covid and recently through the cost-of-living crisis by not increasing the rent or the utility bills. We hope to link in much more over the next year.

## **Therapy**

We have approached the manager of the pre-school and offered Speech and Language Therapy support for the children attending with communication difficulties. We hope to develop this further throughout the year with our Speech and Language Therapist who is part of the congregation. This has not yet been taken up by the pre-school.

pg. 4

## **Springs of Living Water Christian Centre Trustees’ Annual Report**

We would also like to offer counselling and therapy to support the repair of relationships within families of Ripley. This is something we hope to develop further in the next year.

## **Food Distribution**

We work closely with the Salvation Army in Ripley and provide food and toiletries as needed throughout the year to support people in Ripley. There are times when we provide families/people with food as needed on an induvial basis. This is when we are approached directly or via other services.

Again, this is something we hope to develop further and continue to link in with others within the town.

## **Mission and Evangelism**

Embedded in everything we do is our passion to share the heart of Jesus Christ to all. This is shared through the activities mentioned above. This is also shared through the demonstration of our faith. We were out on the streets of Ripley taking the time to listen and speak to people. We are hoping to further share the love of Jesus Christ in all our activities we offer.

This year we are particularly focusing on healing. Sharing the manifestation of the promises of God through His signs and wonders. We hope to develop these weekends within the next year. We hope to be a hub within the town supporting the local hospital and community settings which are struggling to meet the demands. Springs of Living Water Christian Centre will become a hub over the next year for the sick to come and be healed alleviating the demand on public services in the town.

## **Finances**

2023/2024 accounts to March 2024:

Income: £57,331

Expenditure: £50,606

Due to the opening as a warm welcome space, we were awarded x2 £1,000 grants from Stewardship fund. This then enabled us to hire an electrician to update the wiring upstairs in our café area. He also installed the wiring ready for an oven in our kitchen area. This Resulted in our electric heaters working safely so the space is safe, warm and usable and wiring ready for our oven in the future.

## **Springs of Living Water Christian Centre Trustees’ Annual Report**

Plans for future finance are to continue to improve the main Church building, Church Hall, Church grounds and facilities in line with the plans already outlined in this report.

We have been able to improve the security of the church buildings this year by installing security cameras and a ringdoorbell. We are now able to monitor the building 24 hours.

## **Safeguarding**

We are members of thirtyone:eight (formerly The Churches Child Protection Advisory Service) who are our umbrella organization for all areas of Safeguarding. All DBS checks are processed by them.

We have recently produced a comprehensive safeguarding policy which is in the process of being approved by thirtyone:eight.

The Church now has a Safeguarding Coordinator as well as a Deputy Safeguarding Coordinator. We do realise that the implementation of the Child Protection Policy, with all its paperwork and strict guidelines, will have an impact on every area of church life.

## **Structure, governance and management**

The Pastor is appointed and agreed by the board of Trustees. The Trustees agreed to Pastor Carole Haynes taking over as Pastor in October 2012.

The board of Trustees meets regularly to make decisions on all matters regarding the Church and Church Hall.
