Annual Report from The Chair
The Felling Food Network faced many challenges this past year due to running costs, reduction in food donations and monetary donations. The cost-of-living crisis impacted on the charity when purchasing food for food parcels due to the increasing food prices.
The Felling Food Network also experienced an increase in people attending the Felling Hub each week needing help with food support due to the challenges with rising energy prices and the cost-ofliving crisis.
For the charity to continue through the challenges and provide food support and advise /signposting to the most vulnerable in the community, we had to apply for more pots of funding available as we were providing between 40-45 food parcels each week
The Felling Food Network had many successes this past year, and as Chair I am so proud of the charity’s achievements which has all been possible working together as a team.
-
Since opening in April 2019, we moved to our first building, the Felling Hub which is situated in the heart of the community.
-
We welcomed our new Trustee/Treasurer in May.
-
We welcomed new volunteers to our team, and sadly said goodbye to volunteers who had been with us a long time due to ill health and change in circumstances.
-
We opened our kitchen in July to provide hot/cold meals each week for those people attending for food support, we held HAF during the summer holidays where arts and craft activities and meals were provided to families.
Annual Report from The Chair
-
We celebrated the Platinum Jubilee event by providing a buffet.
-
We held fundraising fair events at the Felling Hub and attended local fair events to raise monies for the Charity.
-
We supported families at a local school by providing food support and new toys for children for Christmas.
-
We work with organisations and receive referrals from them for people needing food support.
-
On 14 December 2022, we provided 70 Christmas meals to those people attending the foodbank that week for food parcels.
Annual Report from The Chair
● We have worked with many organisations and held events at the Felling Hub such as the Melissa Bus event where people attending for food support had access to advisors to help with many issues from energy, housing, health, mental health, debt and employment.
As Chair, I would like to thank Trustees, Angela and Anne for their hard work dedication, and support throughout the year. I would like to thank our team of volunteers for their time, dedication, and hard work throughout the year.
As Founder/Chair, I would like to thank the Funders and the organisations listed on our website for their kind support throughout the year.
Finally, a thank you to our supporters for their kind support throughout the year with either food donations or monetary donations or fundraising.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT
| Report to the Trustees | The Felling Food Network |
|---|---|
| Charity No | 1198236 |
| On the accounts for period ended | 31 December 2022 |
| Set out on pages | 5-7 |
Respective responsibilities of the Trustees and Examiner:
The Trustees of the charity are responsible for the preparation of accounts. They consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 and that an Independent Examination is needed. Having satisfied myself that the charity is not subject to audit under company law and is eligible for independent examination, it is my responsibility to:
-
examine the accounts (under section 145 of the 2001 Act.
-
follow the procedure laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
-
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of the independent examiner’s statement:
My examination was carried out in accordance with General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the Trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’, and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiners statement:
In connection with my examination, no material matters have come to my attention which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:
-
the accounts do not accord with such records; or
-
the accounts do not comply with relevant accounting requirements under section 396 of the Companies Act 2006 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination; or
-
the accounts have not been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP (FRS102).
I have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
