Activities for the year 2023/24

Woodham Walter Village Hall attracts a wide range of user groups of all ages, who use the Hall for various activities including dance, yoga, drama, karate and puppy training classes as well as Parish Council meetings and local elections.

Two fundraising events were organised this year which were well attended and raised funds for the hall.

Accounts for the year 2023/24

Lettings income has increased by 35.5% this year, due to an increase in hire fees in January as well as an increase in hirers. This additional income is needed to cover the costs of running the hall which increased dramatically in 2022/23. Net fundraising income of £390 has also contributed to the increase in income and we are grateful to the parish council for their grant of £325 and their continued support. The charity made a surplus this year of £1,365 and carries forward a balance of £9,813.

Risk Areas and Risk Management

The charity had previously set a target to keep 2 years’ operational costs in reserves, which from the accounts would be £15,000. At present the charity has just over 15 months of reserves, which is healthy, if a little short of the target. The greatest risk to the charity at present is the low number of trustees. Efforts are being made to recruit new trustees to the board.
