## **TRUSTEES’ ANNUAL RETURN for the Financial Year ended 31 December 2024** CHERT Reference: CHERT 109

## **1. Objects and Purpose**

- 1.1. To advance education for the public benefit about the history of the struggle for LGBT+ rights, including but not limited to the origins and history of the Campaign for Homosexual Equality and by contributing to the safe preservation of LGBT+ archives.

- 1.2. To promote equality and diversity by encouraging a deeper understanding of the causes and progress of changes in public acceptance of LGBT+ rights.

## **2. Activities during the year**

- 2.1. The Trustees met on four occasions during the year, with business focussed on completion of the policy portfolio, monitoring and progressing work on the second volume of ‘Amiable Warriors’ CHE history, completing the transfer of documentation and information about CHE websites and email lists, and arranging the transfer of assets from the Campaign for Homosexual Equality to the CHE Research Trust.

- 2.2. The transfer of assets to the Charity continued to be stalled, due to problems closing a CHE account to the benefit of CHERT, as original signatories were either deceased or unavailable.

- 2.3. Two Trustees now share the role of Treasurer and they are confident the transfer of assets will be complete in the first quarter of the 2025 calendar year.

## **3. Financial position**

- 3.1. The resolution passed at the 50[th ] CHE Conference empowered the Trustees, acting in their capacity as the Executive Committee of CHE, to transfer sufficient money from CHE to CHERT to enable CHERT to fulfil its charitable objects. As of 31[st] December 2024, these assets totalled £86,719.15.

- 3.2. Due to the matters stated in 3.1 above, the Charity had no access to these legacy financial assets at the outset, and hence had no income or expenditure during the year.

Signed for and on behalf of the Board of Trustees of CHERT:

Simon Ives (Chair), 27/10/25
