TRUSTEES’ ANNUAL RETURN for the Financial Year ended 31 December 2022 CHERT Reference: CHERT 73
1. Objects and Purpose

1.1. To advance education for the public benefit about the history of the struggle for LGBT+ rights, including but not limited to the origins and history of the Campaign for Homosexual Equality and by contributing to the safe preservation of LGBT+ archives.

1.2. To promote equality and diversity by encouraging a deeper understanding of the causes and progress of changes in public acceptance of LGBT+ rights.
2. Activities during the year

2.1. On 15 July 2022, the Trustees held their first Board Meeting following registration by the Charity Commission; they met regularly during the rest of the year, beginning to put in place the policies and procedures required for good governance of the Charity.

2.2. The public launch of CHERT took place at the Conference on 15 October 2022, incorporating the 50th Annual Conference of the Campaign for Homosexual Equality (CHE).
3. Financial position

3.1. The Charity had no financial assets at the outset, and had no income or expenditure during the year.

3.2. In accordance with a resolution passed at the CHE Conference on 15 October 2022, and as soon as a bank account has been set up for CHERT, the Trustees, acting in their capacity as the Executive Committee of CHE, will be transferring sufficient money from CHE to CHERT to enable CHERT to fulfil its charitable objects. This is expected to comprise the bulk of CHE’s assets, which are in excess of £80,000.
