The trustees present their annual report and the financial statements for the year ended 31st March 2026.

## **Structure, Governance and Management**
## **Governing document**
The charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation governed by its Declaration of Trust dated 11th March 2022. It is registered as a charity with the Charity Commission under Number 1198213.
## **Appointment of trustees**
The trustees of the charity, under the charity's trust Deed, are known as the trustees. Under the requirements of the Trust Deed, the Trustees are eligible to appoint additional trustees.
## **Organisation**
The board of trustees administer the charity. The board meets regularly through the year to review matters relating to the charity.
## **Objectives and activities**
To advance the Christian Religion for the public benefit by:
A - Providing support and activities which develop the moral, spiritual and interpersonal capacities of (mainly but not exclusively) young adults, to enable them to participate in society as socially responsible individuals and agents of change for the betterment of humanity;
B - Providing Christian programmes of theological study, reflection and practical service in the wider community; C - Promoting reflection on historic and contemporary racism and injustice in ways that build links and understanding between people around the world, and in ways that mitigate factors that contribute to discrimination, poverty and injustice.
To relieve poverty around the world by activities including but not limited to:
A - Enabling young leaders from disadvantaged economic backgrounds to fully participate in the opportunities programmes and activities provided by the Tsedaqah community;
B - Providing services to charities or other organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty.
When planning our activities for the year, the trustees gave consideration to the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit and, in particular, the specific guidance to charities concerned with the advancement of religion.
## **Achievements and performance during the year**
Our year started with a single resident in the house who finished their year with us by attending the USPG (United Society Partners in the Gospel) National Conference, taking part in a National Church-led Truth Telling conference (with a focus on Slavery and the Anglican Church) and organising and leading their own conference for Ghanian Christians in London. In the midst of all that he also managed to attend a football match at Anfield along with a previous Tsedaqah resident! He returned home after successfully securing a place at Park
In September we welcomed three new residents, one each from Liverpool, the USA (via the Episcopal Church) and from Jamaica (supported by USPG). We hoped to also be joined by a young woman from Ghana but sadly her VISA situation delayed her start, but we are very positive about her joining us as part of our 2026/27 cohort.

## **Achievements and performance during the year (Continued)**
As ever, our residents have been busy with church-associated racial and social justice initiatives, including our MICAH Foodbank and contributing to the Cathedral Post-graduate Learning Community. Their placements have included, Liverpool Cathedral, St. Luke in the City and Together Liverpool (a charity supporting faith and community groups across the Diocese of Liverpool area to take their next step in tackling poverty and injustice in their communities). They have led worship at a number of events and have blessed us with a variety of cultural worship styles, perhaps notably this year an introduction to a sung, participative version of the Jamaican Lord’s Prayer. Additionally in May 2025 we welcomed Bishop Ruth Worsley as Interim Bishop of Liverpool. We are grateful for Bishop Ruth’s support to the Tsedaqah community and more widely to the Triangle of Hope. We have also been pleased to welcome a new Tsedaqah Chaplain, Rev Mark Stanford who is Warden of Readers for the Diocese and based at Liverpool Cathedral. Congratulations also to Bishop Mark Stevenson of Virginia and his wife Kendall who married in February 2026!
It has been a year of challenges and fun, along with some happy meet-ups with previous residents and it is always good to reflect on the many lives that have been touched this year by both our current residents and by our dispersed members as we all move forward together as a community.
With grateful thanks to all our supporters, partners, supervisors, Trustees and those who are part of our covenantal community overseas.
## **Financial Review**
## **Results for the year**
The results for the year are set out on page 5.
## **Reserves policy**
The trustees have established the level of reserves (that is those funds that are freely available) that the charity ought to have, which is equal to six months’ of normal unrestricted payments. Reserves are needed to even out any short term funding gaps between spending and the related income. The trustees therefore consider that the ideal level of reserves as at 31st March 2026 would be £7,500 (2025: £10,000). At the year end the charity had unrestricted general funds of £13,901 (2025: £12,913).
## **Related Party Transactions**
There were no related party transactions during the year
## **Trustees' responsibilities in relation to the financial statements**
Charity law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of its surplus or deficit for that year. In preparing those financial statements, the trustees are required to:
- select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently;
- make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;
- state whether applicable Accounting Standards and Statements of Recommended Practice have been followed, subject to any departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements; and
- prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in operation.
The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the company and to enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

## **Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of Tsedaqah House, Liverpool**
I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 31st March 2026 which are set out on pages 5 to 7.
## **Responsibilities and basis of report**
As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (the Act).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commissioners under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
## **Independent Examiner's Statement**
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act: or
2. the accounts do not accord with those records.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
