Lytchett Minster and Upton Recreation Ground Trust
Trustees Annual Report 2023/24
Registered Charity: 1198172
Charity Purpose
The objects of the CIO Trust are:
to promote for the benefit of the inhabitants of Dorset and the surrounding area the provision of facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, financial hardship or social and economic circumstances or for the public at large in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving the condition of life of the said inhabitants.
Charity Activities
During 2022/23 there have been exploratory meetings between the Trustees and Lytchett Minster and Upton (LMU) Town Council meetings to review how the Trust could benefit the Dorset Community. No monies required or transactions made during this period.
At the start of the 2023/24 discussions between the Trustees of LMU Recreation Ground Trust, Trustees of Lytchett Minster Turbary Allotment Trust (TT) and Councillors of Lytchett Minster and Upton Town Council (LMUTC) agreed it would not be of public benefit to add the LMU Recreation Ground Trust as leaseholders of the Upton Recreation Ground, whilst reaching an agreement for a short term lease with the Landlord (TT). A 7 year lease has since been agreed between the TT and LMUTC. Discussions regarding the benefit of Recreation Ground Trust as future leaseholders of the Recreation Ground and TT will resume as the proceedings to agree a longer term lease commence in the near future.
The Trust holds no financial assets and no transactions have taken place either to or from the LMU Recreation Ground Trust in 2023/24.
The Trustees have complied with their duty to have due regard to the commission's public benefit guidance when making decisions or duties to which the guidance is relevant.
