GPG is in its 15[th] year, with 2024-25 our third full year as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, with the overall aim of protecting the environment for the public benefit in Penarth and environs, by promoting the sharing, repairing and re-using of products; raising awareness on environmental issues; and promoting biodiversity.
EVENTS
Several events for public benefit have been organised in the period November 2024 – November 2025, including:
-
November 2024: GPG annual public meeting , sharing news on our projects and presentations from speakers about a net zero future for Penarth, seeking views from participants on steps to take in the year to come.
-
May 2025: Bio-diversity event - Wild about Penarth : An evening of talks, discussion and community connection. Highlighting why the natural world that supports us is so important, and what we can do in our own gardens, and across our public spaces, to protect and encourage nature.
-
July 2025: GPG had a shared stall at Penarth’s Summer Festival and also at the Local Nature Partnership’s Vale Nature Festival 2025 to promote our work with the community.
-
September 2025: Supported Penarth Community’s Great Beach Clean up Survey , as part of the Marine Conservation Society’s Great British Beach Clean.
-
October 2025: Apple Day . A very successful community, family friendly event organised by GPG and Penarth Growing Community in collaboration with a number of other community groups in Penarth. The event celebrated local fruit with participants having the opportunity to make and taste apple juice from our presses, and those that have their own apple trees were invited to bring along their fruit for juicing. The event also included autumnal games and craft activities for children.
-
November 2025: GPG’s AGM which included an update of our activities over the last 12 months, a viewing of the “Climate Change: the Facts” film followed by a discussion with members of the community including Penarth Youth Action.
