CIO for the year ended 31 March 2024.
The Foundaon was established as a Charity Incorporated Organisaon (CIO) and registered with the Charity Commission on 3 March 2022.
The Foundaon has broad aims focused on aempng to support students from deprived social backgrounds by offering bursaries for aainment in mainly STEM subjects. The purpose of these bursaries is to level the playing field for students who have the ability but perhaps do not have the financial means to go on to university.
Objecves and acvies
The objects of the Duncan Wordsworth Foundaon are to pay or apply capital and income to or towards or for the benefit or furtherance of such charitable purposes or charitable organisaons (whether corporate or unincorporated) at such me, in such manner and in such proporons as the charity Trustees may from me to me determine.
The Foundaon has connued to support Ellis Guilford School in Nongham. Bursaries are being paid to three former Ellis Guilford School students totalling £7,000 per year for three years to support them through their university degree. Financial awards have also been paid to those students selected to benefit ulmately from the university bursaries to maintain a relaonship between the Foundaon and the students whilst they complete their sixth form studies.
The Foundaon has donated £47,000 to Ellis Guilford School to enable them to purchase equipment for their science laboratories. The school is now one of the best equipped for science in the area. A donaon of £3,000 has also been paid to Ellis Guilford School for prizes to be awarded to students in STEM subjects.
The Foundaon has also donated £10,000 to Westlake United Church, a charity based in South Africa which supports educaon in the township where it operates. The donaon is being used to sponsor children to enable them to stay in educaon, and to fund the provision of educaon in literacy, numeracy and computer skills.
In seng objecves and planning for acvies, the Trustees have given due consideraon to general guidance published by the Charity Commission relang to public benefit, including the guidance 'Public Benefit: running a charity (PB2)

Achievements and performance -
support three students through university, and six students through sixth form, by means of payment of a bursary. Prior to receiving their first instalment, the university students provided details of their A level results and acceptance at university. To receive future instalments, they are asked to provide an update on their university experience.
The donaon to Ellis Guilford School to purchase science equipment has allowed teaching of the subject to be transformed to more of a journey of discovery and experience by individual learners. This has resulted in a greater number of pupils opng to study triple sciences, and improved engagement and enjoyment in the subject. The Foundaon is liaising with the Elis Guilford School about the possibility of a study to measure the impact of the acvies of the Foundaon on the school.
The Foundaon receives reports from Westlake United Church Trust regarding the use and impact of the donaon made. The inial donaon made has enabled them to fund a number of projects including computer training, aer school study groups and install data projectors in classrooms.
