The Friends of Jackhouse Nature Reserve annual report 2024/2025
Thanks to the Friends of Rhyddings Park for allowing us to use their facili�es and for their general support.
Key events from the year

Wildflower assessment in June 2024, funded by Windfall for 2 annual cuts/mow, one of which par�ally went ahead in October and due to the poor weather the second was in March this year. Bluebells are now thriving in one of the areas adjacent to Cobbs Lane.

In July we installed 35 birdboxes thanks to funding received from the Civic Society.

February saw the bridge replacement and two new kissing gates & fencing installed at the main entrance on Pot House and one at the top of Cobbs. The boulders at the main entrance are due to be replaced by bollards and are trying (with limited success) to stop cars from parking there.

Prospects have started regular volunteering sessions, held on the 1[st] & 3[rd] Wednesday of each month, which I’m sure Hyndburn Prospects will talk more about in his update.

Cobbs Lane as a cut through. LCC have erected signage, with limited success. Good news increased deer sigh�ngs in the reserve.

In April an expert bird watcher led an early morning bird walk as part of the Hyndburn Nature Reserves project.
