AMMF- The Cholanglocarclnoma Charlty was reglstered wlth the Charlty Commlsslon as
Charltable Incorporatèd Organisatlon ICIOI durlnÈ ihe year 2022. The CIO re8lstered number wlth
the Charity Commission is 1198095.
The charity was originally registered in 2￿2 under the name. The Alan Morement Memorial Fund
(working title. AMMFI and was an unincorporated charity with the registration number 1091915.
However, because of the continuin8 growth of the charity. AMMF'S trustees decided that it should
transltion as a legal entity from unincorporated re8lStered charity status to that of a Charitable
Incorporated Organi5ation ICIOI. This involved lengthy work with the Charity Commi55ion, and the
new CIO 5tatU5 was approved on 01 June, 2022. At that point the work and all a55ets of the original
charity passed to the new CIO charity.
The original charity and its registered number 1091915 will always remain in existence, with all
records submitted to the Charlty Commission still available on the Commission's website, but thls
entity will now remain in the background.

Cholan8iocarcinoma is under-represente(l and under-funded across all areas, including policy.
services, and re5e3Tch. It 15 a Poorly understood and under researched disease which is increasing in
incidence not only in the UK but throughout the world. Lack of awareness and the difficulties of
achieving clear and accuratedia8no515, mean that most are at an advanced stage and inoperable at
time of their diagnosis.
Whilst surgery remains the only potentially curative treatment, there is now chemotherapy,
targeted therapies and immunotherapy. and a growing number of clinical trials. in particular those
investigating further targeted therapies and immunotherapies. However, a diagnosis of inoperable
cholanBiocarcinoma remains invariably fatal, and this is a situation that has not chan8ed in decades.
AMMF is committed to working to change this scenario, nationally and internationally.
Resolute In bringinB about improvement for the cholangiocarcinoma patient, AMMF continues to
work closely with patients anil their carers, clinicians, healthcare professionals, researchers, and
pollcy makers, as well as actively collaboratin8 8lobally.
During the year 2024, the charity continued its advocacy work, especially in helping those with
cholan8lOC3rcinoma to navigate their way to continue essential treatments wherever possible.

The Rethlnk Ll¥er Cancer Canyl8n
The alm of AMMF'S 'Rethink Liver Cancerf campai8n Is to broaden the focus of liver cancer from
being exclusively hepatocellular carcinoma IHCCI to hi8hli8ht that cholan8iocarcinoma ICC41 is also a
primary liver cancer, and to raise awareness and influence health policy for better reco8nition,
earlier diagnosi5, and equitable treatment access.
'S0ft launched, in October 2023 ILiver Cancer Awarene55 Monthl. The Rethink Liver Cancer
Campaign, was formally launched on 20 February 2024 with a White Paperl based on the outcomes
and the publications from AMMF'S CCA data work. at an afternoon tea reception in The Terrace
Pavillion at the House of Commons. Westminster.
AMMWS Westmlnster Receptlon- February 2024
Elliot Colburn MP, Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Cancer, hosted the event and met
and spoke with many of the guests. Noel Corrigan, Chair of AMMF'S Trustees, introduced the formal
part of the afternoon, Elliot Colburn gave an introdvrtorytalk, and AMMF'S new video showcasing
the finding5 of the CCA data project was premiered. Helen Morement, AMMF'5 CEO, and Professor
Shahid Khan of Imperial College London. then spoke about what led to the CCA data project, the
results and the asks we now have for those who can change policy and improve the situation for all
those with CCA.

Amongst the attendees were a number of health care professionals with an interest in CCA, MPS and
government health officials, NHS policy makers, patients and carers, and mernbers of the press.

AMMF'S Hybrld European Cholanglocarclnoma Conlefence- May 2024
AMMF'S European Cholangiocarcinom3 Conference 2024 was a three-day hybrid event showcaslng
groundbreakin8 research, innovative treatments, and the collaborative spirit of the
cholangiocarcinoma ICCAI community.
The charity was delighted to welcome two internationally renowned specialists at the forefront of
the CCA world, Professor Shahid Khan and Professor Chiara 8raconi, as co-chairs of the 2024
Conference. They expertly hosted a faculty of 45 intemational speakers and managed some
challenging Q & A sessions. all exploring the conference theme- Accelerating Progress.
As in prevlous years, the conference brought together a diverse audience, Includlng healthcare
professionals IHCPSI, researchers, medicèl students, patient organisations, patients, carers and
patient advocates. Thi5 mix provided a unique platfomi for exchanging knowledge and perspectives,
enhancing the understanding and management of CCA.
Impattful personal perspectives were shared by four CCA patients. Their powerful individual stories
highlighted real-world challenges including the crucial need for specialist knowledge, early diagnosls,
and comprehensive support systems.

AMMF Cllnlcal Nurse Speclallst Advlsory Board- May 2024
On 08 May 2024. during AMMF'S CCA conference. a workshop for ainical Nurse Specialists ICNSI
was held. Following this, at the nurses, request. an AMMF CNS Advisory Board has been set up. CNS
Advisory Board Terms of Reference were prepared, circulated and approved, and a virtual meeting
of the board will be scheduled for early in 2025.

Faces of Cholang5ocarclnoma- December 2024
The 'Faces of Cholangiocarcinom3' initiative was part of the next stage of the Rethink Liver Cancer
campaign, which it Is planned will run throughout 2025. To promote the ask for a 'Fairer Deal,
Fasterf for all those with cholangiocarcinoma, a photo shoot was arranged with the celebrity
photographer. Rankin IRankin waived his fee for the day. although the charity had to pay for the
studio and ancillary personnel). Eight people with cholan8iocarcinoma were photographed,
including the designer Dame Zandra Rhodes, Katie Nichol (author and roy31 commentorl, Charlie
Shrager Imodell, and others well known to AMMF - Ilona Smith, Andrea Sheardown, Andy Clav,
Judith Neptial, 8enjamin Carev.
As part of this venture, a'behind the scenes. video was created, which will be launched at the start

Global Cholon8lo¢ar¢lnoma Alllance
The Global Cholangiocarcinoma Alliance IGCAI was established at AMMF'S international workshop
held in London in 2018. The aim of the Alliance 15 to provide a united voice through international
collaboration, raise the global awareness of CCA, and to improve the education of both healthcare
professlonals and patients.
Since the GCA'S inception in 2018, AMMF has acted 3$ the not-for-profit partner in this venture, and
AMMF'S CEO Helen Morement is a co-chair on the international steering committee.
Durlng 2024 the role of secretariat of the GCA, and the organisation of the annual World
Cholangiocarcinoma Day in February, cholan8iocarcinom3 Awareness Month, passed from the
healthcare communications agenry AXON to Colab Health who will now also manage the bespoke
website and social media accounts.

within medical circles, for its work in the field of cholangioc3rcinoma. and is frequently invited to
become part of study groups and advisory boards. for example, the working group for Liver
Transplantation for Cholangiocarcinoma, and the executive committee of Cholangiocarcinoma-UK.
AMMF is a150 a member of the European Network for the Study of Cholangiocarcinoma IENS-CCAI,
an association of research groups from across Europe and beyond, actively working on basic.
translational, and clinical research into cholangiocarcinoma. and AMMF'S CEO is chair of the ENS.
CCA Patient Advocacy Committee.
AMMF continues to be an active member of Cancer52. the alliance of rare and less common cancer
organisations in the UK. AMMF'S CEO, Helen Morement was appointed a board dirertor/trustee of
Cancer52 in 2014, and has continue(J in that role since then. She also ècted as interim co-chair during
2023 and part of 2024 Iwith fellow Cancer52 board member, Rebetca Porta, CEO of The Urologv
Foundation) until the new Chair of Trustees was appointed. Through membership of Cancer52,
AMMF is enabled to have a presence and a voice within every national cancer initiative and AMMF'S
trustees see this as providing an important opportunity to work more closely with this influential
organisation, and in identifying priority challenges and opportunities for all those in the rare and less
common caneers community.

Led by Profe550r Shahid Khan. Imperial College London, and oriBinally published in 2023, the
guidelines which had been prepared by a multidisciplinary writing committee of UK experts from
various specialties involved in the diagnosis and management of CCA. including AMMF'S CEO. were
updated during 2024 to include information on molecular profilin& targeted therapies, and the
follow-up protocol after surgical resection for cholangiocarcinoma.
AMMF'S CEO, Helen Morement. also had discussions with David Fitzgerald. Director- Policy and
Strategy, NHS Cancer Programme, NHS England, who agreed that the guidelines, along with a data
analysis of the various CCA therapies given, c3ncer 3lli3nce by cancer alliance lextratted from
AMMF'S published data workl, should be circulated to all cancer alliance5 in England. This was done
in October 2024.

They also attended the A8C-07 trial outcome presentation and, as the CEO was a member of
the trial management group headed by Professor Maria Hawkins, who is a member of
AMMF'S Clinical and Medical Advi50ry Board, it was considered important for AMMF to have
a presence at this everrt.
10 Ortober.. Nottingham Nurses, Event- two members ofAMMF's team (Natasha Plte and
Julie Cross) attended the event to 5howca5e the work of the charity and the resources the
charity has for both nurses and patients.
AMMF'S CEO Awarded an Honorary Dortorate
On 17 July 2024, Helen Morement, the founder and Chief Executive of AMMF-The
Cholanglocarclnoma Charity was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Sclence honor15 causo In
a graduation ceremony at the University of Nottingham in recognition of her Service to medicine and
science over more than two decades.
Helen was nominated for this prestigious degree by Professor Kevin Gaston. Professor of Cancer
Science5, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Nottingham. The award
recognises her outstanding contribution through the work of AMMF. in the field of
cholan8iocarcinoma.

Professor David Bates, Professor of Ontology and Director of the University of Nottingham's Centre
for Cancer Sciences. delivered an Oration in which he OLrtlined Helen's work explaining that, as a
consequence of this work. development of and access to clinical trials. surgery, information and drug
therapies have improved, and that she continues to advoc3te for a more widespread approach fo¥
fair and equitable treatment.
Providing information for those who need It
AMMF'S CEO attended the virtual NHS cancer charity briefing meetings throughout 2024. These
regular meetings have proved helpful and informative. providin@ details of new developments in
NHS processes and policies in a timely manner. AMMF'S Medical and Clinical Advisors are contacted
on a regular basis for help and advice on how best to handle the more difficult patient queries the
charity receive5, and for up to date inforniation on clinical trials.
AMMF'S webslte contlnued to be updated regularly, and provldes information on all asperts of
cholangiocarcinoma, including treotments and specialists, the advances being made and,
importantly, there 15 a comprehensive list of the clinical trials that are available and recruiting in the
UK, which is provin8 a valuable resource to healthcare professionals and patients. www.

The charity uses a number of social media platfomis- Facebook, X Iformerly Twitter), Insta8ram,
Linkedln. These are each kept up to date with daily information of importance and relevance to
supporters. The number of follower5 on each continues to grow. with Facebook in particular now at
over 6,300 followers.
AMMF'S three private, member only, support groups on Faceb¢x*k, Cholangiocartinoma Support- UK
and Europe.. for Patients and CaTeTs, for Patients Only, and for those bereaved, continue to grow,
The groups provide an invaluable resource for patients and their loved ones and, moderated by three
knowledgeable voltjnteers, each group is a safe and private space in which to Sha￿ information, and
to help and support each other.
The requirement from individual patients and family members for specific information regarding
specialist consultants and treatments continues to increase. With the wider awareness of the
charity, increasing incidence and growing recognition of cholangiocarcinoma, it is anticipated this
area of work will continue to grow.

As we look to 2025 ...
The Rethink Liver Can¢er Campaign •nd Westminster Reception 2025
The Rethink Liver Cancer campaign is ongoing and will continue into 2025, especially during
Februarvs Cholangiocarcinoma Awareness Month when we will be holding a further reception in
Westminster, in the House of Commons Churchill Room. The event will be hosted by Mary Glindon,
MP for Newcastle upon Tyne East & Wallsend. We hope those who took part in the Faces of
Cholan8iocarcinoma event in December 2024 will atten(l. to add strength to the charity's ask of
those with the power to change policy for a'fairer deal fasterf for all those diagnosed with
cholangiocarcinoma.
Centres of CCA Expertlse
The outtomes of the CCA data projert and the publication of the new BSG Guidelines for the
Diagn0515 and Management of CCA gave AMMF the ammunition to begin work towards building the
case for Centres of CCA Expertise. During 2024. a working group of specialists in CCA has joined with
AMMF in this work, and in planning a hospital audit to ascertain the numbers of those diagnosed
with CCA and the treatments they attually receive.
AMMF'S Hybrld European Cholanglocarclnoma Conference 2025
The 2025 conference will take place 07- 09 May with 3 global faculty and co-chairs, Dr Helnz-josef
Klumpen and Ms Rachel Gvest, two internationally renowned specialists at the forefront of the CCA
world.

supporters, sponsor and advisors, we will continue our work and remain fully committed to working
towards a fèr better future for all those diagnosed with cholan8i¢xarcinoma.
At the heart of everythin8 we do is the cholangiocarcinoma patient and their families, and each and
every day all of us at AMMF strive towards that improved future for all those diagnosed with this
most challenging of cancers. AMMF will continue it5 work until that goal is reached.
