The Charity also offers a wide range of children's clothing at token cost. Guests attending the Charity also have the opportunity* In private, of seeking advice on matters of concern where they can be si8nposted to external agencies where the appropriate help might be given. Guests are also able to apply for fuel vouchers, through our partner Fuelbank, subjert to meeting their eligibility checks. Our services have expanded over the past year and a NHS Social Prescriber regularly attends to assist guests where possible. We have also started a Book Bank which provides free books, as we recognise the benefit this brings to families in terms of literacy and studies have shown how access to books improves social mobility. The chair of trustees position is currently vacant, pending the appointment of a new minister at Friars Baptist Church. Until such time as a new minister is appointed, a member of the leadership team of Friars Baptist Church attends all trustee meeting5 as an observer. Much of the produce offered to the guests Is donated by k)cal residents, supermarket5, local ompanies and other local charities. However, signifi(znt volumes of foodstuffs need to be bought by the Charity and this is only posslble as a result of monetary donations received from grarrts. individuals and corporate entities along with internal fund raising initiatives. We wish to acknowledge and thank each and every one ofor many donors and 5UPPOrters Without whose generosity the Charity Could not provide the service that it does. The Shoebury Ark is managed and run exclusively by unpaid volunteer5 and we wish to thank every single one for the time, efftirt and dedication that they contribute towards the overall success of the C￿larity. The charity has over ￿ famllles from the SS3 postcode re8iStered on our books with, generally, between 80-90 families attendlng each week and about 190-200 free meals handed out each week. Whilst the main aims of the Charity have been ststed above It Is worth noting that in addition to the obviotjs practical benefits that the Charity offers to the guests. They derive a social and well bein8 benefit. They meet and ¢onver5e with the volunteer5 and other guest5 and for some of them this might be the only real social interaction for them in their week. Similarly the volunteers themselves benefit from working at The Shoebury Ark, some using it a5 a mean5 to helping them into work, others simply liking the community and social interaction.
