Wark Town Hall – Charity Number 1198073

Report 2024

The objectives of the Wark Town Hall Charity and its trustees, is for the provision and maintenance of a Hall for the use of the inhabitants of Wark and the surrounding villages without distinction of political, religious, or other opinions, including use for:

(a) meetings, lectures, exhibitions and classes,

(b) other forms of recreation and leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the inhabitants,

(C) use as an emergency hub. With provision of safe shelter in situations of, personal, local, regional or national emergency.

Wark Town Hall (the Hall) continued to host events throughout the year, including, Toddler group, Coffee mornings, Indoor Bowls, Music Events, Quiz, Bingo, Scrufts and much more. There has also been an increase in private bookings of the Hall facilities which augments the income needed to maintain the running of the Hall.

In addition, the Trustees held events raising funds for other charitable organisations, including Macmillan Nurses and The Great North Air Ambulance.

Due to low demand, and staffing pressures, we have amalgamated Warm Hub Tuesdays with our regular weekly coffee morning. Providing a guaranteed weekly slot for friendship, hot drinks and a platform to provide seminars and roadshows, to assist with topics such as loneliness, food and fuel poverty and digital isolation.

We were pleased to welcome 1 new Trustee to the Committee in the role of Treasurer, and would whole heartedly like to thank the outgoing Treasurer for their many years of dedicated service. Going above and beyond on a weekly basis

Grant applications were very successful in 2024 allowing for water damage repairs, a new second kitchen area, ongoing redecoration and moving forward with our green energy initiative.

The trustees have developed a volunteer bank to assist with adhoc events, which was responded to with some enthusiasm from our wonderful village residents. The Town Hall will continue to promote the role of trustees within Wark parish. Which will allow us to recruit new volunteers with a variety of life and career experience, vital to the prosperity of the charity.
