Annual Report 2025/26
Background
The Parochial Church Council (PCC) of the parish of South Shoebury has the responsibility of cooperating with the incumbent in promoting the whole mission of the church – pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumenical. The council also has responsibility for the maintenance of the churches, the church halls in Church Road and Hinguar Street plus the ‘Curate’s House’ in Wakering Road.
Membership
Members of the PCC are either ex officio, elected at the Annual Parochial Church meeting (APCM) or co-opted in accordance with the Church Representation Rules. The PCC is obliged to meet a minimum of four times each year but may meet more frequently.
The Standing Committee is required to exist by law. It may transact business between meetings subject to the directions given by the PCC.

SECRETARY’S REPORT
The PCC meetings are held monthly and are usually, but not exclusively, carried out virtually by means of “Zoom”.
All meetings commence at 7.30pm and meeting dates up to November 2026 are as follows:

There have been 6 PCC meetings between May 2025 and March 2026 (no meetings are held in August); I am pleased to report that attendance at these meetings has been good.
Meeting Agendas are circulated approximately one week before each meeting, with Minutes being issued usually within seven days of the meeting. To reduce printing and postage costs, Agendas and Minutes are circulated electronically as far as possible, with printed copies made available to any member not on email.
At each meeting, the Minutes of the previous meeting are confirmed as accurate or amendments made as required and then signed by the Rector or Lay Chairperson. Actions previously agreed are reviewed during the meeting to update PCC Members and to ensure an accurate record is kept. Standing Agenda items every month are Safeguarding, Finance and Building Matters, other items are added as necessary or appropriate.

Our meetings have been both light hearted and enjoyable whilst maintaining a proper sense of responsibility for the finances, the upkeep of our churches and their halls as well as addressing matters of worship. We have been mindful also of our duty to parishioners and the wider public which comes with those responsibilities.
The PCC has complied with its duty under section 5 of the Safeguarding and Clergy Discipline Measure 2016 (to have due regard to the House of Bishops’ guidance on safeguarding children and vulnerable adults).

RECTOR’S REPORT
St Andrew’s Church and Hall
Throughout 2025-26 we have undertaken various works in both the church and hall.
Church
Thank you to Susan Phipps who ensures we have flowers week by week and for the team who help at Christmas, Easter and Harvest: Geoff, Debbie and Mary. Other volunteers are welcome. Thank you also to those who donate money for flowers in memory of loved ones throughout the year.
We have a small but dedicated group of cleaners who keep St Andrew’s looking smart and well-cared for. Thank you to all of you for your time and dedication. If you would like to share in this work, please contact Sue Kelly.
St Andrew’s Church
The replacement sound system was installed in September and is working very well.
The porch was repaired by Lodge and Sons Builders in the autumn.
The ‘flooring and heating project’ in St Andrew’s Church finally received Faculty permission in the autumn and then we had to receive permission from the Council to go ahead. The work finally started on January 6[th] .
At the time of writing, we are well under way. The font has been moved, the new wiring is in place ready for the heating; the flooring is ready to be installed and it will all look lovely and fresh once all is complete.
We anticipate being in by Easter and holding an official ‘Reopening’ Day on April 25[th] .
Once this project is complete, we will need to address a number of issues raised by the Architect in our Quinquennial (5 yearly) inspection in 2025. There are no disasters, just sensible, regular upkeep.
Churchyard
The churchyard is a great gift to us and our neighbours. Thank you to all who have helped maintain the churchyard: we receive many appreciative comments about (and donations for) the churchyard. Special thanks to Peter Kelly for the long hours and care he devotes to the churchyard. We can always do with another pair of hands so please contact Peter Kelly if you would like to help.
The Community Payback Team have been helping on the first Thursday in the month and we are grateful for their contribution. They especially enjoyed dismantling the pipe organ in November and sorting out the scrap metal, which brought us £31!
Church Hall
We have made extensive use of the hall during the building works in St Andrew’s. Sunday services have been taking place in the main hall and Wednesday mornings in the back room. Since Zumba returned from their January break we have retreated into the back, back room (if you see what I mean!) for our Wednesday morning service. We are greatly blessed to have a warm and useful space for services.

Huge thanks are due to Jane for her hard work cleaning both our church halls and to Sue, Peter and Geoff for all they do to maintain the hall. We have a few tasks to do in the coming year, not least sorting out the flooring in the main hall.
The hall is well used by a wide range of community groups as well as our own activities. We are very grateful to Sue for managing the bookings. It is good that we can share our premises and the income makes a massive difference.
Reverend Canon Louise Williams (in the absence of a church warden)
ANDY CLIPSHAM LLM
Andy has been Lay Reader, organist and all-round blessing to the parish for more than 30 years. During the year Andy concluded it was time to officially retire and is now known as Reader Emeritus. We thank Andy for his enormous contribution to parish life. In October, we presented him with a gift and a card from the parish.
CHURCH FUN CLUB
We continue to meet 3.30-4.30pm on Tuesdays in term-time. It’s a happy group with anything up to 10 children who are accompanied by a parent or carer. We have energetic games for about 10-15 minutes, followed by circle time, prayers, a Bible story and sometimes some singing. Worksheets, colouring, craft and discussion help us to learn Bible stories and to understand more about our faith.
We are thrilled that Mark Gadsden, the youth and families worker from Shoebury and Thorpe Bay Baptist Church, has been helping us since the Autumn term. He is a great asset and we have a very happy time with his games, jokes and sense of faith. Thank you to Mark and also Evie and Anne who come to help as often as they can.
Twice each term we have a service of Holy Communion in St Andrew’s at 6pm. This is always a very special time. At Christmas we dressed up and had a Nativity Play as part of the service. It was a very special time.
Other members of the congregation are most welcome.
On March 1[st] , Sienna, Ava and Jessie were admitted to Holy Communion for the first time. It is always a joy to prepare our children from this special new step in faith. We do remind parents to bring their children to church as often as possible.
YOUTH GROUP
With a number of our children moving to secondary school in 2025 we set up two opportunities to gather and learn more about their faith. One of these has gone well, the other did not.
Mark and Emma have been leading the small group on Tuesdays after Church Fun Club. Using games, craft, video clips and worksheets we have learnt about the Lord’s Prayer and what it means to follow Jesus.
Sadly, the Friday evening group didn’t attract any young people that weren’t related to Evie, so we concluded this wasn’t sustainable for now.
Thank you to all who help and encourage our young people. It is so important they know they belong and that this is their church.
THURSDAY AFTERNOON SERVICE
We meet at 2.30pm on the first Thursday in the month, at St Peter’s. It is a short service with familiar hymns, a short talk, some prayers and wonderful refreshments provided by Mary. Thank you, Mary, for all your help with this. Some churches have a service which they label ‘dementia friendly’. We have chosen not to do this as we feel all of our services should be accessible and welcoming to everyone. However, if you have a neighbour or

relation whose memory is failing, or who struggles to cope with church on Sunday mornings, do consider bringing them along. They will be most welcome. It’s not a big group so it isn’t overwhelming. It’s a very accepting group so there’s no need to worry if people join in unexpectedly. We are always just delighted to see you.
CARE HOME SERVICES
It has been wonderful to join with Revd Jo Hellenbrand from Shoebury Baptist Church to visit in Autumn Cottage and Kathryn Court during the past year. We go once a month and sing hymns and songs, read the Bible and talk about Jesus…and have a lot of fun! Thank you to Sandra, Wanda and Wendy who join in when they can.
BIBLE STUDY GROUP
Since Lent last year we have been meeting in St Peter’s on Monday afternoons. A lovely group meets to discuss matters of faith, pray together and to get to know each other better. Thank you to Sandra and Carol who share in the leadership of this group. Do get in touch if you are interested in coming along.
We also have an evening group which meets on Zoom. Most recently we have been learning about Holy Communion.
CONFIRMATION SERVICE
We were so thrilled to present Nicole, Emma and Izzy for Confirmation by the Bishop of Bradwell at St Andrew’s, Westcliff on Nov 30[th] 2025. It was such a joyful service and a great blessing to all who attended.
There will be a service of Confirmation in St Saviour’s, Westcliff on May 10[th] . If anyone is interested in taking this step of faith, or would like to find out more, please let me know.
CHRISTMAS CONCERT
We were delighted to host the Southend Boys and Girls choirs to St Andrew’s in December, for a beautiful concert of Christmas music.
CAROL SINGING
Well done and thank you to all who turned out to sing carols at the Shoebury Christmas Market and also outside the Shoebury Hotel. We gave out information about our services and had some good chats with passersby! And it was great fun.
AREA DEAN
I continue to serve the wider Deanery of Southend by being Area Dean. Apart from supporting clergy colleagues and parishes I also get involved in ecumenical activities. In 2025 I helped to organise an evening of information sharing about homelessness in Southend. Although generally the attendance was poor, our parish was well represented so thank you to all who came and supported this event.
Another extra duty is that I sit on the People Scrutiny Committee, a statutory body which is required to keep an eye on what the Council is up to. I’m not sure I contribute a great deal, but it is very interesting!
MASTERS DEGREE
In May 2025 I completed my 3-year part time master’s degree in theology. The teaching was provided on 15 Fridays in each of the first two years, at St Augustine’s College in West Malling, Kent. The 3[rd] year was spent writing a 15000-word dissertation. It has been a very happy experience, and it was a real thrill to graduate in Durham Cathedral in January 2026.

The subject of my dissertation was the chants and ethos of the Taizé community. During the summer at our shared evening services, I took the opportunity to share a little bit about this and then led us in a service of Evening Prayer, using Taizé chants. Reverend Canon Louise Williams
THE CHILDREN’S SOCIETY
This year’s box collection resulted in a total of £502 being paid to the society who have gratefully acknowledged our contribution. This total is higher than last year and thank you to all who contributed. Following the Christingle Service a donation was also sent to the society.

TUESDAYS AT TWO
We have had a full programme of weekly meetings during the past year with the usual breaks at Christmas, Easter and throughout August. I am pleased to report that our membership has remained steady and we all look forward to meeting up for a chat and refreshments. We had special cakes at Christmas and Easter and pancakes on Shrove Tuesday.

PARISH MAGAZINE
The parish magazine continues to go from strength to strength. I have received positive feedback from the congregation.
I am pleased that this year we have had a number of articles submitted by members of the congregation which makes the magazine a more interesting read.
We have also gained one or two more advertisers from the hall users which helps with the cost of publishing the magazine.
The current print run is approximately 450 copies split between the two churches. This year I have also been adding an online version to the Parish's page on the "A Church Near You" (ACNY) site and I notice that it attracts a lot of viewers. It is also available each month in PDF form on our website.
I have also begun publishing Louise's monthly letter on the ACNY site on a separate tab along with other news items.

ST ANDREW’S CHURCH HALL
We've had another good year, Starlight Players are still with us and booked their Pantomime and other events, also 5678 Dance Group have given the hall a boost in earnings and we have also welcomed the Guides in September, so along with the other groups we have in the hall everything is well, the only comment I have is the floor in the hall needs looking at before someone trips. (The PCC are aware and it is on the action list. – PCC Secretary)

Libby Barnes - Electoral Roll Officer ST PETER’S CHURCH HALL
Another busy year of hall activity. The art group we had on Wednesday morning sadly finished when Sandra Brown moved away. We did have a music for kids session try to start but she is struggling with attendance so is taking a break till she has sufficient takers. Also taking a break due to lack of numbers are Squirrels and Beavers. Hopefully things will improve for them soon. Our regulars continue with us, Slimming World, Rainbows and Brownies, Cubs and Scouts, Cake Club, The Fifty Choir and Kangoo Jumps.
Parties are still going strong with quite a bit of repeat custom and recommendations. We now have 2 families who have grown so large they celebrate their family Christmas gathering at St Peters.
My thanks to Mary who helps in many ways. Also thanks to Jane who cleans and Alan and Karen who look after the garden and do more than the odd job around both inside and outside.

CHURCHWARDEN’S REPORT
ST PETER’S
A quiet year at St Peters by comparison. No major works or changes. Just the regular bits of maintenance to keep everything running smoothly and looking presentable. We are still being very careful with the carpet and have decided on the designs for the two wall hangings. Wanda has kindly volunteered to make them but this will take a little while to complete.
WARDEN’S REPORT
Another busy year keeping both churches able to function safely and smoothly, well most of the time, for our church community. Most of it mundane and everyday. But the good news was the start of the works to the interior of St Andrews to make it safer for all as well as more accessible for all. Hopefully we have retained the heritage whilst making it fit for future worship and many aspects of church life will be improved and easier for all users whether regular or occasional.
The defibrillators at both churches have been called into action on a few occasions. We had raised sufficient money for their upkeep but we may need to raise some more in the future to continue their usefulness. Who knows who and when they may be required.
As church warden I would like to give an enormous thank you to all those who help by doing the jobs around the churches and grounds you currently undertake. Even if it’s just telling me something needs refilling. These all make my life as church warden so much easier and help keep me on track. You all know who you are but a particular thanks to Geoff and Keith at St Andrews and Mary, Karen and Alan at St Peters. And of course to

Sandra and Louise who continue to have incredible patience with me. If anyone else feels they have the time to help in some way or even become the second church warden just have a chat with either myself or Louise.
Denise Askew – Churchwarden
SOUTHEND DEANERY SYNOD
Meetings are held 3 times a year at different churches within the deanery. The reps from this parish are Denise Askew and Sandra Baines.
The June meeting was held in our parish, at St Andrew’s, where we were delighted to welcome Bishop Adam. He spoke about friendship, reflecting on his own experiences personally from friend’s gifts and the gift of friends – that it is invaluable and worth the shedding of material ‘riches’ to enrich relationships.
Jesus does not call his disciples slaves who serve their master but friends who are welcomes to share a meal at the table.
The November meeting, held at St Mary’s Prittlewell, focussed on wellbeing. Revd. Dave Willis gave a talk on clergy wellbeing, sharing some feedback from the Deanery about what affects and helps wellbeing including unrealistic expectations and creativity as well as healthy lifestyle habits. Small groups discussed what they think helps and hinders their own wellbeing.
Sandra Baines spoke about wellbeing for laity in ministry and how they can be better supported; pastoral oversight and check ins with volunteers. Deanery synod was encouraged to place wellbeing on PCC agendas.
The February meeting was held at St Saviour’s, Westcliff, where the speaker was Revd. Tim Goodbody, the Diocesan Director of Ordinands.
He gave a talk on vocations in the Church. Sitting in small groups, everyone was invited to reflect and discuss some questions about their own experiences of serving in the church setting.
Liz Robinson gave a short testimony on her journey to Licenced Lay Ministry and Revd. Claire Abraham spoke about her experience of becoming a Priest. Tim then gave a presentation on vocation.
In addition to Synod meetings, the following events took place in the Deanery: In February Archdeacon Sue, took up post as the new Archdeacon of Southend; An evening of training and networking for Churchwardens in the Deanery took place in June, followed by an information evening for Treasurers in July; The St John's Team commenced a revitalisation project at St Andrew's, Westcliff.
A group of us from the Southend Deanery travelled together by coach to take part in the Bradwell Pilgrimage at the beginning of July – a spirit-filled and memorable day.
As a parish, we are entitled to 3 members on Deanery Synod – this year we looking to appoint/reappoint representatives. There is one vacancy…might this be something God is calling you to do? Please do have a chat with Louise, Den or myself if you would like to find out more.

SINGING FOR THE SOUL
Our free community choir continues to meet on Monday evenings during termtime. Our vision is to provide wellbeing, community relationships and fun, through singing together.
The group is open to anyone with a joy of singing, and the regular membership consists of a lovely mix of people from the community. A number of new friendships have been formed.

We had a very successful first concert at St Peter’s in June. Since then we have sung at various events including the Harvest Supper, Shoebury Christmas Market, Carols by Candlelight at St Andrew’s and a 12[th] Night celebration at St Augustine’s. Our future plans include a short performance at St Andrew’s Grand Reopening on 25[th] April, and a joint concert with the Music Man project on 19[th] July.
Sadly, Helen was no longer able to continue as our accompanist after the summer holidays. I would like to record my thanks for her support and direction in the setting up of this group. God answered our prayers for a new accompanist, and in September we were delighted to welcome Lorraine to the group in this role.

LICENSED LAY MINISTRY (LLM)
I have continued serve in our parish by leading services and preaching, as well as supporting or facilitating various activities during the week. Regularly attending or leading Be still, as well as taking part in the Thursday Afternoon Service and the monthly service in Kathryn Court.
Since becoming a Licensed Lay Minister in the parish, I've taken on more duties at both Deanery and Diocesan levels. As the Deanery Lay Ministry Adviser (DLMA), I help keep Southend LLMs in the loop about meetings and training from the Diocese, check in with them now and then, and organize some social get-togethers.
As Lay Chair to Deanery Synod, I support Louise as Area Dean, and take on some of the yearly visitation inspections to the churches of the Deanery.
I've also just finished training to be a Bishop’s Adviser for clergy selection panels. In this role, I join the interview process for future priests, which has two parts: first there's a oneday online carousel, then a two-day residential panel for in-person interviews.
The training was thorough and really helpful. I joined my first Carousel panel in February and I'm set to go to the residential panel in July.

SAFEGUARDING
In my role as Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO) I have to ensure the church is a safe place for children and vulnerable adults. As PSO, I am the point of contact for safeguarding issues, ensure proper training and DBS checks, carry out safer recruiting for parish roles, report to the PCC, and liaise with the Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser when necessary.

MESSY CHURCH
Messy Church takes place at St Peter’s on the second Sunday of each month. Over the past year, 12 different families have come along at various times. Our busiest session was in November, when we had 13 children and 15 adults.
Each month we offer a range of craft activities, all linked to the theme of the Bible story, followed by a short service in church. The crafts and singing are always enjoyed by everyone and help create a fun and welcoming atmosphere.
A big thank you to Mary for preparing and setting up all the craft activities each month – it’s really appreciated and makes a huge difference. Sandra Baines

MISSIONARY REPORT – LATIN LINK
Cesia continues to work with Connected Hearts but over distance. She has been coordinating training sessions over Zoom with the new volunteers and has taken on most of the admin work over distance. There are four (maybe five!) new volunteers to mentor and train so that keeps her busy. She went to visit the prison over Christmas while we were in Guatemala and the ladies were very excited to see her. Currently there are 106 prisoners served in the ministry. Over the past year the team has changed, as sadly one of the leadership team, Sheny, passed away after a long battle with cancer.
Since September last year, Geoff has been studying a PhD at Asbury Theological Seminary. So far it has been very intense! In the USA, doctorate study is half in class and half dissertation, so Geoff has spent two terms in class. So far it’s good with classes, and he is still in contact with the seminary in Guatemala helping with some students in Old Testament. The class he has most enjoyed so far has been New Testament Research Methods, and he recently presented a project from that class in a conference. Sofía is doing really well at school (and at home!) She is attending a local preschool on weekday afternoons and her favourite things at the moment are dressing up as a princess and cooking in the kitchen. Her omelettes are already better than Geoff’s!

Minutes of the Annual Parochial Church Meeting held on Sunday 27[th] April 2025 in St Andrew’s Hall
37 members of the Electoral Roll were present
VESTRY MEETING:
1. Prayer and Welcome
Louise welcomed everyone to the meeting, opened with a prayer at 11.35am and outlined the programme for the APCM.
2. Thanks to Churchwardens
Louise thanked Denise Askew for her work as Churchwarden over the last 12 months. We are very grateful to her and prior to the meeting she had indicated she would now stand for re-election as Churchwarden.
Following this, Denise Askew was unanimously re-elected as Churchwarden and will serve, ex officio, on the PCC.
This concluded the Vestry Meeting and the Annual Parochial Church Meeting then took place.
ANNUAL PAROCHIAL CHURCH MEETING:
The meeting commenced at 11.40am with apologies from Keith & Anita Barham, Libby Barnes, Andy, Pat & Cheryl Clipsham, Brian & Jennifer Whymark.
The minutes from last year’s APCM were then presented and comments were invited. There being no comments or corrections requested, the 2024 APCM minutes were duly signed by Louise.
1. Questions and comments on the 2024 reports submitted
The reports had been available for approx. 2 weeks before the meeting date both via e-mail and in hard copy. There were no specific questions on any of the reports submitted, hence all were accepted and Louise thanked all contributors. Copies of a report from Geoff Baines of Latin Link were also available at the start of the meeting.
2. Elections
a Election of PCC Members
Nominations for PCC members were received as follows:
Deji Adesida, Max Barnes, Patrick Dromgoole, Geoffrey Price, Carol Rawson, Paul Shadbolt, Debbie Slack and Lisa Thomas.
Since we have more vacancies than nominations, all were duly elected.
Ex-officio Members are Louise Williams and Andy Clipsham, together with Sandra Baines and Denise Askew (Churchwarden and Deanery Synod Representative).
b. Deanery Synod Representatives
Denise Askew and Sandra Baines were elected as Synod Representatives in 2023 and will stay in post for this year.

As already stated, they are ex-officio members of the PCC. There is a vacancy for a third Synod Representative.
2. Treasurer’s Address
Patrick presented a summary of the accounts which had previously been made available in the reports.
The action by Barclays Bank to close down our account towards the end of 2023 for no apparent reason has served to distort the figures for 2023 and the early part of 2024 but Patrick provided a description of what this has meant to us in the introduction to his report. Briefly, some income could not be paid in and some accounts could not be paid out before the end of 2023. A further complication was caused by Barclays refunding us with £30,000 when they closed the account and this had to be paid in again once the account was restarted! It is to be noted that this had implications for the 2024 end of year accounts as it shows income and payments in 2024 which should have been included in 2023.
Patrick pointed out that our accounts are “in a healthy position – we do have money but need income! The halls have provided good income (£27,000) as has the parish house. Expenditure was down and overall income up by £30,000.” A new deal by switching to Octopus Energy should provide savings for the current year.
As well as the accounts, Patrick has written-up a series of policy documents as required by the Charity Commission for which we thank him.
Louise thanked Patrick for all his hard work and endurance then proposed that the meeting adopt the accounts and the motion was carried unanimously.
3. Appointment of Independent Examiner for the next APCM
Joanne Tsang was re-appointed as the Independent Examiner. This is a task she accepts without remuneration and for which we thank her.
4. Electoral Roll Report
Our Electoral Roll Officer Libby Barnes was not able to attend the meeting but her husband and PCC member Max reported that the total on the roll is now 130.
5. Rector’s Address
Thank you to all of you for your support, cooperation and hard work. You are such an encouraging and kind group of people. I am so blessed to work here.
Special thanks to Den, Sandra, Andy, Geoff, Mary, Sue and Peter, Karen, Alan and Rachel, Patrick, Deji, Helen etc… and all of you for the difference you make to our church life. I’m sorry that Keith and Anita can’t be here today as I was going to make a special fuss of Keith as he will be stepping down from PCC after over 30 years. Bishop Adam has written to him and sent a certificate of recognition. But we note Keith and Anita’s immense contribution to the life of this parish for decades and will deliver the certificate to him later.
We have welcomed a number of new people to our churches in the past year. Do speak to faces you don’t know and don’t be afraid to ask their names! Rope them into something!!!
Those we said good bye to: Mary Thomas, Graham Davis, Clive Meager, Michael Crabb, Peter Miller, Carole Bayliss, Bob Margerison, Derek Jarvis and Frank Pooley. We give thanks for their friendship and fellowship.
We waved Elsa, Simon, Charlotte and Sophie off to France.

Some now find it too hard to get to us on Sunday mornings.
We will also have to wave good bye to Deji, Helen and the girls as he goes off to be ordained. We are so thankful for the time they have been with us and will have chance to say our proper farewells on June 22[nd] at the Songs of Praise service.
We have much to celebrate:
First communions for Sophie, Sophia, Ellie and Ada
Confirmation and baptism Deanna, Evie, Grace, Miriam, Tilly, Kay, Lucy, Ken and Kat renewed her vows.
Numbers at Toddler Group and Messy Church fluctuate but are very positive. After school club often sees 12 children and we celebrate that.
We have a number of year 6s who are going to senior school so we pray for a good plan to help them maintain their connections with us and grow in faith.
Building project is slowly progressing. A warmer and more accessible church is the aim so we press on!
Numbers on Sunday are sometimes a bit disappointing. Other weeks they are great! Please keep attending church as often as you can…
We would like to restart coffee after St Andrew’s but it needs a real push and some relatively ablebodied people to make it happen. And commitment to show up and make drinks.
We need to keep recruiting new people to attend. We need to help others find faith in Jesus Christ. Our social events are brilliant for getting to know people and invite them to church but we can’t just leave that to ‘other people’. We need everyone to show up and be welcoming.
Shoebury in Tune. Thank you to those who are planning a musical event for your activity or organisation. Please think about what YOU could do. Please plan to attend the picnic and singsong on July 13[th] . It should be lovely. Something for everyone so, bring family and friends.
Study groups and Lent Groups. We’ve had a good take up of these during Lent and a lovely attendance for the Quiet Morning. More of you are using Bible reading notes or apps to help you in your prayers. That’s great! Do take your spiritual life seriously. It is what holds us in rocky times and strengthens our sense of faith so we can share with others. It fires our sense of mission and equips our hearts to love. It is our experience of God as well as friendship with each other that we can offer our local community. So many are seeking these things and they are looking in all sorts of weird and wonderful places. Let’s be renowned for our love of God and neighbour, our hope and our sense of peace.
Thank you for the financial contribution you make to the life of the parish. We have savings but we need to keep up with our giving. It is as much an act of worship as the other ways we worship God. Do ask me for information about the Parish Giving Scheme or bank details to make a standing order. We can reclaim tax on gifts large and small so, if you are a tax payer, please give via the PGS.
We give thanks to God for all his mercies and kindness to us. I thank you for your friendship and kindness and look forward to another year serving God together.
6. Any Other Business
Keith Barham is retiring from the PCC after 30 years of service – 22 of which were as Churchwarden. Unfortunately Keith was unable to attend the APCM due to health problems

therefore Louise had arranged to visit him after the meeting and present him with a lovely framed certificate of thanks from the Bishop.
Pat Campling, seconded by Denise Askew, praised the work of Louise in our parish and gave thanks for all she does for us. A floral presentation was then made to Louise.
