THE STONEBAIIIIOW TFIUST Registered charity number.. I1972 Trustees, Annual Report for the period From To 1st April 2023 318t March 2024 Period start date Period end date Objectives and Activities In summary, the purposes of The Slonebarrow Twst are split between Local cause5 and International causes. 1. Locally= to relieve sickness and poverty, to help young people develop their personal abilities to become valuable members of society., to advance the Christian Religion by providing grants to the local Ghurch of St Andrew so that it might continue to develop as a hub for wider communrty activities- and culturally to educate the public in the art and science of music,. and to promote community cohesion. 2. Internationally.. the purposes extend to the relief of poverty or sickness anywhere in the world through grants to established tharities in the specific areas of providing refuge for the poor and suffering in Africa and helping them to develop skills to help them gain employment self-sufficiency in the future. The activities undertaken by the charity during this financial period are.. 1. A grant under the 'Vicars Relief Fund, whereby the local clergy have been given the discretion to award grants to parishioners who demonstrate their need for emergency living costs, similar to the London-based Vicaff s Relief Fund operated by St Martins in the Fields. {£200}. 2. Grants to organisations relieving poverty and si¢kness (£2,500) 3. Granls to organisations offering refuge and employment training to homeless 1£6.000) 4. A grant to a local organisation assisting with Gommunity cohesion {£400) 5. A grant to an organisation relieving mental health problems (£500) 6. The trustees can confirm that they have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit and have applied such guidance to the activities stated above.
Achievements and Performance The major achievements during this financial period have been.. 1. The continued development of the framework for future distribution of grants to charities with objects consistent with the purposes of The Stonebarrow Trust, both locally and internationally. 2. The documentation of a list of preferred such charities which is developing into grant and donation policy document. 3. The distribution of more than £11,000 to such charities. 4. The encouragement of the development of the 'Vicarfs Relief Fund, for the clergy of the Golden Cap benefice of 12 local churches to identify the most vulnerable people in need of assistance. The scope and limits of such granls lo people in the general area who seek emergency living expenses is in the process of being further refined for the coming financial periods. Where th8 beneficiaries are charities themselvès, the grants from The Stonebarrow Trust have extended the charities, reach to their beneficiaries by increasing their income. Where the beneficiaries ar8 rsonal, as in the 'Vicar's Relief Fund,. the difference made is more direct, lifting the people Conrned out of a sense of desperation and despair. Whilst this help is focussed on a smaller group of people, it is available via the local clergy to the most vulnerable in the local vicinity. Whilst difficult to prove, such limited assistance may benefit society as a whole (or at least in the local area) by intervening early in situations that may become more expensive to resolve in the longer tem.
Financial Review The second financial period for the charity covered the period from 1 st April 2023 to 31st March 2024. During this period a total of£19,600 was received as donations and complemented with £4,900 Gift Aid reclaimed. Investment income from the CCLA Deposit Fund amounted to £1,503. As the distribution to good causes was established and developed, more than £11,000 was distributed to good causes both locally and internationally in line with the trust's objects set out in the trust deed and more than double that of the previous financial period. At the end of the period £1,485 remained as a cash fund togelher with £36,503 being invested in a Charity Investmenl Fund ICCL4 Deposit Fund) pending future distributions. With the relatively simple structure of The Stonebarrow Trust and the on-going development of future plans, no other expenditure was incurred during the current period of operation. It was not felt neSSary to hold specifi¢ reserves against potential expenditure costs in the immediate future. The charity's current principal source of funds is from donations from the principal trustees togelher with the associated Gift Aid recovery. The investment policy is lo invest surplus funds pending distribution in a Charity Investment Fund account with CCLA Investment Management. As the distribution policy is developed and refined, the plan is to distribute a greater proportion of the income each year. Structure, Governance and Management Description of charity's trusts..
