REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31ST MAY 2025
Objectives and Activities
To advance health and save lives through (1) The promotion of public awareness of glioblastoma and the issues surrounding the condition (2) The provision of grants to organisations focusing on advancement in understanding and treatment of Glioblastoma
As these accounts relate to the 3rd year of the charity’s existence, the main activities relating to this year have been fundraising events to accrue funds to enable the provision of grants mentioned above.
There have been a number of events that have taken place during this time namely:
-
Bath half marathon 2025 (March) runners organised by Wendy and Gareth Cooper (Trustee)
-
London Landmarks Half marathon 2025
-
Individually organised fundraising events e.g. John Elsey Sea to Summit challenge
-
1 runner in the London Marathon (Dave Cooper)
-
Personal donations from charity supporters
From an awareness perspective the charity Facebook page has received many new visits, and remains home to the charity video which describes what the charity does and why it exists.
Trustee Selection
Within the year we had 1 trustee step down (Lucy Singleton) and be replaced by a new trustee (Hester Thompson). We continue to review as trustees what the needs of the charity are after 3 years, and therefore which trustees we might wish to ask to join us in the
Achievements and Performance
In its 3rd year, the charity accounts stand at £52,181.02.
For this year the main achievement has been to further build our available funds, but just over £10,000. This has been done via the aforementioned fundraising, linked to the events we have bought places at.
We have not made any grants in our 3rd year, as we have received no applications for these grants.

REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31ST MAY 2025
Financial Review
During 2024/25, funds increased due to a combination of fund raising linked to half marathons (x2), having a runner in the London marathon, and the efforts of John Elsey who completed his “Sea to Summit” challenge, raising a significant chunk of our funds for the year. Outgoings were £2,466, either paying for the entry fees for these events or the only other expenditure being on help on our tax return. At the end of the 2024/25 year, our reserves held therefore sat at £52,181.02. The cash balances held at the end of the year are considered adequate as the fundraising we get from the Half Marathons/events, significantly exceeds our entry costs, and our other outgoings are very low outside of any grants.
Reserves Policy
Our reserves are held so as to provide funds for organisations as and when we receive grant requests. Such requests have started to filter through and are discussed during trustees meeting
Public Benefit
All trustees have had access to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit
STATEMENT OF TRUSTEES' RESPONSIBILITIES
The Charities Act 2011 require the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the trust and of the surplus of the trust for that period. In preparing those financial statements the trustees are required
-
Select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently
-
Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent
-
Prepare financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the trust will continue in existence.
The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records, which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the trust. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the trust and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
