Trustee Selection

The original set of trustees was selected based on proximity to Katharine, but also by trying to match the needs of the charity to skills of the individuals. As we move towards the end of the 2nd year of the charity, we have started to discuss (in trustees meetings) the needs of the charity going forwards, and the individuals we will look to approach as part of the transfer of trustees in the future.

Main Activities

As these accounts relate to the first year of the charities existence, the main activities relating to this year have been fundraising events to accrue funds to enable the provision of grants mentioned above. There have been a number of events that have taken place during this

1. A fundraiser at Yeo Valley hosted by Gareth Cooper (Trustee)

2. A fundraiser at Yeovil Rugby Club hosted by George Cooper (Trustee)

3. "A Big Walk" organised by Gareth Cooper

Achievements and Performance

In it's first year, the charity accounts stand at £5,710.90. In addition to this a number of funds were paid into the Community bank account that was used to set up the charity, but these were transferred to the main charity bank account after the end of the first year of accounts. As aligned with the charity commission these funds will be included in therefore in the 2nd year of our charity accounts, but this means that at the time of writing (08.10.2023) the company accounts now sit at £38,113.33.

The main difference the charity has made in year 1 has been around the awareness of Glioblastoma. Our social media pages are followed by over 350 people, and we post regular to our audience. Central to this has been a video commissioned during the first year to explain the charity to our followers. As a result our followers continues to grow steadily, meaning more individuals being aware of

Due to need to raise funds, and due to the charity being brand new and not having immediate awareness, we have not granted any funds to organisations aligned to our governing documents.

Reserves Policy

Our reserves are held so as to provide funds for organisations as and when we receive grant requests. Such requests have started to filter through and are discussed during trustees meeting.
